Botte, you're missing that even back in the old days when Clarke was HUGE, (meaning they had a lot of kindergarteners in the dorms who stayed until 8th grade graduation) they still had a lot of kids who transferred in from public schools. Go and look at the old Volta Voices. They had ads in them heavily promoting Middle School at Clarke. I am speaking of THAT population. The reason why Clarke/St. Joseph's/CID had viable dorm programs until recently, is not b/c parents were sending their five year olds to live in the dorms.....but b/c so many kids were struggling in the mainstream and had to transfer. Nowadays, with the lack of private oral dorm programs, kids who are struggling in the mainstream if they are oral will have no choice but to attend a state deaf school.
