Last year my heating system was going bad. I smelled gas, called the property management, they called the gas company who came out to check it. It was turned off and repaired the same day. It lasted a couple weeks, started leaking gas again, same thing happened except this time they said it had to be replaced. It was just on the edge of too cold to be without heat, it was just around 50 degrees and we stayed in a hotel for about four days. We talked with the property management and told them that we're not paying for the hotel, we'll give them the hotel receipts and take that much off the rent. We did that because the owner was told that he has to replace the system even though they were able to get it working the first time and he procrastinated, hoping to get to spring and wait until next fall to repair it. He was pissed, but we were not going to pay for his mistake.
