Anyone who wants to be offended by it can easily find reasons to do so. Reasonable people who hear and understand the reasoning for the circumstances should have no issues accepting it.
 
I heard on the news that the government has put a warning out to people NOT to open any emails saying is has photos showing Bin Laden's body. The emails could have viruses which will mess up your computer.

Was it reasonable to just dump the body overboard at the first convenience? Personally it does not bother me, but I can see how the hardline Muslim world can take this as an in-your-face insult. Dumb. We do not need this sort of dangerous ignorance in the Navy. *whistling*

It wasn't just "dumped" overboard. It was a burial at sea.

When Hubby went to the Air Force Base today, he said security there was really ramped up, at the gates and at each building.

It's really tamped up on BART too. Sunday afternoon (hours before the announcement) there were bomb dogs at the stadium station for BART. :hmm:
 
There was a Muslim chaplain on board the aircraft carrier. Many Navy personnel lived int he Middle East and speak and write Arabic. All Navy SEALS are required to learn a foreign language because part of their misisons is "training the foreign sailors". Ignorant??????

As I said, anyone who wants to be offended can be. You can call something a burial-at-sea, or you can claim that it was "dumped overboard". And the "first convenience" is simply silly, since they obviously had to do tests to verify his identity. Muslim law also requires burial of some sort within 24 hours, so time was certainly of the essence there (for anyone hoping to at least give a slight tribute to "honorably" or "respectfully" treating the corpse).

bin Laden's birthplace, Saudi Arabia, refused to let him being buried. Saudis still don't believed more than half of the 8/11 hijackers were Saudi citizens. They believed in conspiracy theories.

that OBL virus is already spreading in facebook. incredibly pathetic. couple of my friends fell for it and it sent me a spam message too. It was too obvious. :roll:

"within" 24 hrs. Now I understand why I see them in tv that people were moving their fallen brethren (mostly protestors killed by tyrants' soldiers) very quickly.... to bury them.

same here after reading deafskeptic's post about Muslim rules. I thought it was very fishy of them to "quickly dump" his body off to sea.

Think of it this way; the Muslims over there, at least a large number of them, hate us with a passion so strong they will kill themselves just to kill a few of us. Do you really think there was a way to do this without angering the Muslims? Without offending them? Breaching of Islamic protocol? Not a chance. We could never do this in a way that would pacify them. And based on your second comment, I doubt you are concerned. Heck, they used to videotape beheading of journalists in the name of Allah.

Kind of reminds me of a lot of the rhetoric I see regarding Obama; no matter what he does, he sucks. Even before he starts his term. Does not matter.

That is good you did not fall for it too! I have cousin that use to send me those stupid chain emails that say you will get good luck or become rich overnight and ,blah blab blah ! I had to tell my cousin over and over not to send me this junk as it could mess up my computer! She finally stopped sending me emails !! ! Thanks goodness!
