I don't have a battery load tester, but do have a voltmeter, only a load tester will say for sure if a battery is bad... and auto part stores do the test for free.

More power to ya. You don't need a load tester though just a voltmeter.

Well, I left it on the charger overnight, took it off and put the volt meter on it immediately and this is what it did...

13.08 13.07 13.06 13.05 13.04 13.03 13.02 13.01....... about 15 minutes later I checked it again
12.63 12.62 12.61.....
and a half hour later its still dropping
12.50 12.49.......
you can just watch the number slowly dwindle down, so I assume a bad battery, they are only good for about 2 years and this one is dated 11/2009

* NOTE.... battery is not in car or hooked up, so not a drain in the auto...its probly a short in the cells.

That's is an old battery. Good ones you might get 4 years but you're right the cheap ones only last a year or two. They will drop from roughly 13.5v (what the charger is putting out) down to twelve over a few minutes. If it goes below 12v it's probably bad.

its showing 12.50 and holding....hmmmmmmmmmmmm
still gonna have it load tested, either way Ill need it for a core if I get a new one.

Did you test it in the car with the car running like the highlander suggested?

Not yet, I got my son and he is a handful trying to do things with him bouncing off the walls. Might get to it tonight or tomorrow.?

That's actually good. Just leave the battery out all night. If it starts the car in the morning then you know you have a good battery and it's either a bad alternator or a drain.

yep, I just hate electrical issues, they never seem to go away, just get bigger, hope its one or the other ( battery or Alt )

Well, if it has an aftermarket radio then I can say about 85% of electrical drains I've diagnosed where from bad installation. But I wouldn't get to worried yet. Chances are it IS either the bat or alt.

No its the factory radio.... but does have an aftermarket 10 disk cd changer but it is turned off ( I checked it myself after cleaning the car ) it is RF so works through radio frequency to radio, not connected to the radio. I had one like this before so Im familiar with it. It is also powered off with the key.

Don't forget about bad relay or bad PCM/ECM. They cause drain problem too.

Absolutly could be. I just see a lot of problems with do it youself installs. My guess is that old battery will be dead by morning though.

That's where I said electrical problems only grow.... if its not the simple stuff ( battery/alt/radio ) then it starts getting expensive, especially when theres a short in a wire somewhere and you cant find it.

I had a car before and they did a test, said there was a short somewhere in the harness, they replaced the entire harness and it was still there....lol
Talk about thousands of dollars for something worthless. I loved the car but I didn't love it that much after that.... That's another reason I hate FORDS...
