What is your BB's Cellular provider. You would need to download a BB's desktop software for PC. I remmy I spoke with Tmobile BB department and they told me that if I want to use BB as modem. The BB's desktop program must be running and minimized in order to have network working.

Here's the website came from Sprint Relay Support Center for sprint. Methods are pretty much the same as other Cellular provider.

My best recommendation is to call Tmobile BB department. Ask represative to transfer you to BB dept. They'll be more than happy to work with you. If you have VP, which is faster to communicate. Have your BB and laptop ready. So you can get walk through instruction from Tmobile.

Thanks

TFWFalcon,

I'm sure Tmobile offers an unlimited data plan on their blackberries, but can you confirm?

For those who have BBs and want to do tethering to your laptops, there's a software called the SharkModem you can install to do internet connections. It's $30 or $40 buck and posters on the blackberryforums.com website report good success with it. However, it does NOT work well or at all with Verizon BBYs or any BBY that relies on the Verizon CDMA network (like my Sprint BBY does). One thing I love about the Sprint BBY is they don't charge extra for tethering like Verizon does.

Very interesting, mine was success. I have no problem under T-Mtobile connection between BB and laptop internet. I have no idea for Verzion and Sprint. I bought BB come with package. You have try it your BB and laptop?. There have CD come with package and do install laptop. Let me know if your is working good or not.

A 7290 will not give you a high speed connection. You need an upgraded BB (87703e, 8800, 8300, etc...) to get broadband speeds.

Actually,

BlackBerry 7xxx can do internet on the laptop or for another people who aren't in technical such as MAC user.

The bad news, it has to paid for 50 bucks, but you can try out for free up to 10 megs mean upload and download to try out. It is worth to try to see for yourself.

you can look at www.mobishark.com; only you need or require you use desktop blackberry on your laptop or any device that use. At that moment, that Mobile Shark doesn't provide software for MAC. If you know another way, then you can do there of Windows O/S installing into MAC.

Good luck!
