common sense......
Common sense tells me that that's not a real "law."

discrimination law.
There is no such law called "discrimination law." There are laws that pertain to employment, education, voting, public facilities, interstate commerce, etc. Each one is different. There is no umbrella "discrimination law."

Let me try again. Maybe my questions weren't clear.

Who are the people who are being humiliated in public? How are they being humiliated?

Who are the "ignorant bigots" committing this humiliation?

Are you referring to some other post?

The Skeletal Reaper Horseman

I need set the time machine to make back to London, England in 1200.

Yup, the homosexuality is illegal and punished by death.

There was public hanging on street of London and there was guard that enforce the biblical law so you will be tortured for being too unnatural.

Pretty scare... :Ohno:

each one is different? you mean like... this place is allowed to discriminate against homosexual people and that place is allowed to discriminate against Islamic people?

Victims of what? You are so vague.

?

You're not answering my questions. What on earth are you referring to? The victims of what? By whom?

Let me try again. Maybe my questions weren't clear.

vague? I thought my answer was clear. I guess I'll have to spell it out then. Victims of bigotry and ignorance.... such as... discrimination based on sex, race, color, religion, national origin, familial status, or disability.

If you see a store owner refusing a service to Muslim customers and he's yelling at them to get out and go back to where they're from... would you speak out?

If you see a jerk taunting and bothering homosexual couples... would you speak out?

That's what I was getting at.

No, I mean each category of anti-discrimination law is different.

One law doesn't cover every aspect of possible discrimination. The types of discrimination are different, the penalties are different, the enforcement jurisdictions are different, etc.

For example, compare the wording of laws pertaining to fair housing, equal opportunity employment, school segregation, voting rights, and ADA. You'll see a big variety.

It all depends on the individual law and what it covers.

I hope that I would speak up. I haven't yet seen those things happen in my presence.

Truthfully, most discrimination that happens in the USA today is not that blatant. It's the discrimination that happens in corporate board rooms, lending offices, school boards, hiring decisions, news director meetings, etc., that is more prevalent and harder to dig out.

I have done my share of advocating for the underdog in situations, and I've taken my lumps for that action at times.

Have you seen blatant discrimination happening in your presence? If so, what did you do?
