Black Friday 2006 Ads!

There are two reasons they think the name black friday originated.

One reason is during most of the year January-November most businesses were "in the red" or in negative amounts of money. You know how at the bank they show your money in red if you have a negative amount? Well since the Friday after thanksgiving is a HUGE shopping day, they would make so much money that they were no longer in debt and so they were no longer "in the red" they were now 'black'.

Also another reason they might call it Black Friday, is because in history any time there is a chaotic, stressfull, horrible day, you can refer to it as a "black" There are many Black Fridays in history, such as the Black Friday in 1869 when the US stock market was horrible and was making no money. Or Any Friday the 13th is also called a Black Friday.

There are black mondays, black tuesdays, black wednesdays, black thursdays, black fridays and even black sundays. If something tragic or messy or just stressfull happens on a day, you can call it a black whatever day.

Yeah, Interesting !!

I have went through that last year on Black Friday. I only did it out of curiousity and of course there were tons of sales, prices that were slashed over half, so and on. It was quite an experience but I don't think I would do that again this year and from now on. It was bad enough that there were alot of crazy people running around and trying to gab things that were only available on the shelves.

My aunt and I were together shopping last year on Black Friday and she overheard a group of ladies that were behind us in the line saying that they had saw a woman bit another woman in the arm just because they wanted the same laptop and it was the last laptop on the shelf. The woman who was bitten, of course, had to be taken to get proper medical attention. So yeah, It's crazy.

dang, woman bit another woman in the arm...that's

The last time I remmy my mom, sister and I went shopping on black friday when I was young. It wasn't crazy during at that time. Weird in these days, huh? lolzz

I agree with you, it is weird. I would say people can afford this year. That is why I don't go..

Sorry, I am in a Country that don't have thanksgiving tomorrow. Besides, I won't go then too. I would go and buy little here and there. Besides, anything my son gets right now, he breaks it within a couple hours playing with it and have to throw away. Best bet for him are like balls and stuff that don't break

I think Im gonna have fun this Black Friday :) last year was no fun at the Walfart cuz they sold out of a LCD HDTV I wanted and I had been haggling with Circuit City and Best Buy to get them to match the tv's Black Friday 2005 price, but no luck. Consolation prize was a few toys for my daughter...

Now my Black Friday LCD HDTV quest begins at a store I wont name for fear of being sold out from under my nose. This time my Grandma roomie's son is coming with me to help with anything that arises out of my quest.

I bet you are planning to go to the Radio Shack for
AOC Envision (L32W461) 32" Widescreen LCD HDTV
$899.99

Correct ?

Hey, Sablescort, you can answer this AFTER the
Black Friday if you want to :)

NOTE: I already visited Radio Shack yesterday
and it looks NOT too bad...

Great... But, Be careful NOT to buy any LCD HDTV
with both Digital and Analog because I heard
that Analog will be gone next year anyway.

lol I was going to get a Westinghouse 19" widescreen LCD HDTV that Best Buy is going to sell for 199 a saving of 200 this Black Friday, but upon inspecting the tv today, I decided I could spend the savings on a better one so I bought a 19" Samsung SyncMaster 940MW widescreen LCD HDTV/computer monitor combination with a very unique feature that has an analog tv tuner for broadcasts in both NTSC (our television standard) or PAL (the European TV standard) but I plan on attaching a HDTV cablebox on it anyways so Im not gonna need the analog tuner. But its the only regular LCD computer monitor I ever that came with a remote :)

Now I got myself a very nice LCD tv that I always wanted and Im happy with it now. and the kicker is I got it for 40 off the 359 price Best Buy was asking for it.

899 for the 32" HDTV at the RS is nice but it was way out of my budget and it wouldnt fit my room.

So only thing I gotta worry on Black Friday is finding enough Polly Pockets and Barbies for my daughter :)

Dizzy

Due to my Meniere's and BPPV, I easily get dizzy and loss of balance at the busy shopping mall. Not worth to go -- go somewhere smaller places and less crowded. :) Or even make things!! Save $$ .. families and friends will appreciate the handmade gifts. Something special and personal.

I am gonna be the Elf this year again!

It is normal, child will break toy. They don't understand. Samething happen to my kids, they break. I don't know why they do that. Next time, I buy different toy that don't break. I just bought Magtastik, my daughter will love it. Try big block lego for your son, it will not break. My daughter had legos for 3 yrs and its didn't break. Never buy play doh a clay, its didn't last and they break down easily. I will never buy again.

Black Friday has already started on our ebay catalog yesterday!

I hope to be hiking up the Verdugo Hills and harvesting spring mineral water.
