Black Friday

i never shopped on black friday and will never do it.. not from what i have seen on tv news .. wow.. too many people push and shove others? where is respect? jeez.. no way! not in my condition as i just had surgery? forget it... no way! sigh!
 
How or why did they come up with
that name "Black Friday" from ?
 
I'm gonna check out the stores. I have a memory card I want to get for my digital camera. :)
 
yeah i know how u people feel I have to deal with crazy customers at my work every year when black friday comes.. i was like oh great.. blah but I do well with what they want me to get or ask me where that and that ugh.. it should be interesting friday :roll:
 
Tough luck for the employees getting run over by the customers. I'm not going because my gf has to work on Friday in the morning. I'll find other days for a calm reasonable sale than a immature, run over sale.

There are two reasons they think the name black friday originated.

One reason is during most of the year January-November most businesses were "in the red" or in negative amounts of money. You know how at the bank they show your money in red if you have a negative amount? Well since the Friday after thanksgiving is a HUGE shopping day, they would make so much money that they were no longer in debt and so they were no longer "in the red" they were now 'black'.

Also another reason they might call it Black Friday, is because in history any time there is a chaotic, stressfull, horrible day, you can refer to it as a "black" There are many Black Fridays in history, such as the Black Friday in 1869 when the US stock market was horrible and was making no money. Or Any Friday the 13th is also called a Black Friday.

There are black mondays, black tuesdays, black wednesdays, black thursdays, black fridays and even black sundays. If something tragic or messy or just stressfull happens on a day, you can call it a black whatever day.
 
I am not too sure about myself to going there.

I wonder about one day that would happen to Black Friday online in the future. I would think they will claim the ip address who got there first up to 150,000 to allow 30 minutes? Sure that server from network will or may jam and shut this alldeaf.com for while.. Who know.. I am just making up if you think I am serious but.. I found website that claim for 10,000 ip address to get that great deal.

About PS3, I think they are butt-- I think WII is good suggest for our kids keep in shape instead sitting on coach and play with their thumb.

Myself- never done that before. I am start curious about this.

My mom did when I was little in 1980's the popular doll is glow worm if you guy know. Did your parent do that when you were little too?

My mum's at the moment, trying to convince me to go shopping for Black Friday.

I am still undecided.

I do not like crowds - however, I do like reduced prices...when you have four kids, it's a necessity. :)

I am going to have the kids compile up Christmas lists tonight - so I have an idea of what I'm looking for. We've done little to no shopping at all, and I have a feeling I'll be making a lot of homemade candles for those who want them. :)
 
I am going.. I have to grab those unbelievable prices on those toys.. I have to grab those toys, cause that is WHAT my son want! :ugh: At Walmart, they have the V-Tech Learning System, the box for $30 bucks for 5am to 11am and after that, it will go up to $60 bucks. And the Tonka toys are like 10 bucks for 5am to 11am and it will go up to $30 bucks, and 20 pieces Hot Wheel (the big box) for $10 bucks for 5am to 11am and after that it will go up to $29 something dollars.. You know I am cheap person and I just grab them instead of spending so much money on things... Also the mall stores have all the clothes from 50% to 70%.. That's REALLY good deal. Last year, I got real leather jacket for $40 bucks (I believe it was from 5am-11am) and we save like $200 bucks (after 11am was almsot 300 bucks)... It was crazy, and no wonder why people went nut all over the place and fighting over the last one, and ramming to each other to get their way out...

I been going to Black Friday since after my son was born in 2002, and got lot of nice things on cheap price.. Wish me good luck on Friday... :run:
 
I think Im gonna have fun this Black Friday :) last year was no fun at the Walfart cuz they sold out of a LCD HDTV I wanted and I had been haggling with Circuit City and Best Buy to get them to match the tv's Black Friday 2005 price, but no luck. Consolation prize was a few toys for my daughter...

Now my Black Friday LCD HDTV quest begins at a store I wont name for fear of being sold out from under my nose. This time my Grandma roomie's son is coming with me to help with anything that arises out of my quest.
 
ummm i think abt going there 5am why not??? grin... do it before my bf go work at noon..

I don't do Black Friday. I need that morning to sleep off the calories I put on the day before lol.

I do most of my shopping online. It's MUCH more easier than having to beat the traffic and crowds at the stores. I'd rather spend money on shipping and handling rather than being pushed or cussed at. NO THANKS!
 
In some places they allow only a few people in the store at a time so they can help prevent a stampede. I went once when I was 14 or 15 - I saw two older ladies get into hair pulling fight over a damn furby. Never again will to partake in Black Friday ceremonies. I think Black Friday is an appropriate term because it shows the rest of the world just how greedy us Americans are. I never go to Wal-Mart during the month of Nov. Dec. Jan. Yes that is right I dont set foot in Wal-Mart for three months solid. If I need something from Wal-Mart I send someone else to get it for me and I pay them the money. I hate Christmas Shopping Crowds.
 
Dixie i hate the shopping crowds during daytime too due to anxiety attacks.. but at night time i notice it is not crazy like during daytime.. why dont you go at nighttime?? have you tried that as i have gone at nighttime.. much better.. so think of that at night time?? not hurt to try once... heh..
 
me too, it is quietier at night. Sometime I go at night, cause it is less line.
Sometime, I go after I get off from work. I work night shift and it is so much easier less traffic and less people in long line. I don't like wal-mart either, I have no choice. Sometime I order online.
