He only wants his daughter to associate with deaf people who can hear which gives me the impression, deaf children who are implanted and are oral-only.
Wrong conclusion.. or assumption...

My brother is dead. Long dead.

I also wrote how I wasn't included in the deaf ways.
I wasn't taught SL ,and my brother never wanted me to sign.

I told you once you never read carefully what I write, Shel.
And then you made assumption about me based on what other people say about me - incorrectly say.

Fuzzy

That was a LONG time ago when you talked about your brother. I said " I thought" and all you had to was to correct me instead of adding the other stuff. Nobody said anything about your brother. I brought him up.

Ok, sorry.

lotte is deaf. Deaf deaf deaf deaf deaf deaf.

DEAF

Anyways...

All deaf kids implanted or not should have exposure to the Deaf community and Deaf culture.

You can't use a CI as a role model for deaf children and you shouldn't.
Why not... If it's all about free choice to be deaf or to hear - why wouldn't you show a child another child or adult that can hear...

No way! drphil is DEAF!!! (Although you keep telling him it does not exist.) :D

I didn't tell him DEAF doesn't exist. I told him it's not necessary to capitalize the word deaf in order to say he's deaf.

but yeah...give me a D! an E! an A! an F!

What does it spell?

Hearing! according to cloggy.

You are so very deluded. Your daughter doesn't have a choice about being deaf. She is deaf no matter how much her parent denies it.

No. My parents did that, introduce me to adults who wore hearing aids and could speak and talk. I saw how others treated them and it only perpetuated hatred of deafness. Others would treat them like they were sooooooooo special or they would act a bit discomfited or they would speak to the deaf adults like they were stupid.

If my parents had introduced me to deaf adults who signed fluently and with ease among each other, I would have learned that being a deaf person is not a tragedy but something to be proud of.

She is deaf... regardless of hearing equipment she possess.
You can't even define "deaf", Is it "not able to hear" or "born deaf even when you can hear"..

Give me a definition and we'll talk about Lotte being deaf..

I am 100% in support of what Ash did.

So, you believe a 3 years old boy have more power than his parents?

You believe a 3 years old kid is capable of deciding and changing the direction
of his life upon the accidental encounter with a stranger in the mall?

A 3 years old boy upon this encounter will come home, smash his little fist on the table, rip his CI off and yell "no more of this c*ap" -
ASL only from now on"!!!

and his parents will be like "sure, sure, hunny bunny'????

somehow I doubt it.

If they had comparative educational materials, links, on the other hand...

Fuzzy

As am I. More people should follow her lead.

Yea, I am in support of what Ash did. I hope that little boy gets opportunities to interact with the Deaf community and learns ASL.
