Define "deaf"
Lotte was born deaf. She can hear hear hear hear hear hear.

what's your point?

she can hear only when she wears a device. cloggy, you've been coming here for years and we've been telling you the same thing over and over and over and over again then new members come here and tell you the same thing old members did. why are you persisting in ignoring us? do you really think you know what deaf children need more than we do?

if so, you're a very arrogant man and that will come back to bite you in the ass when your child becomes an adult.

So, you believe a 3 years old boy have more power than his parents?

You believe a 3 years old kid is capable of deciding and changing the direction
of his life upon the accidental encounter with a stranger in the mall?

A 3 years old boy upon this encounter will come home, smash his little fist on the table, rip his CI off and yell "no more of this c*ap" -
ASL only from now on"!!!

and his parents will be like "sure, sure, hunny bunny'????

somehow I doubt it.

If they had comparative educational materials, links, on the other hand...

Fuzzy

I dont think that is what Ash is implying. Just was glad that the little boy identified with her, as a deaf person, not as a broken hearing person.

Well.. I'm sure this will shock you. I did just that, but a bit older, only after seeing for myself.

I still think back to this day and vividly remember things that made me go "wow, I actually felt that feeling and registered it." The feeling was the knowing that you were being experimented upon. This was when I was a toddler.

So yes, all of that experiences gathered together - I made my own decisions and my parents respected me for that. I thank them for that.

No problem. Sorry that I brought him up. I must have you mixed up with someone else.

No, it's ok, and I am sorry, too for jumping on you
And no, you probably thought right - my late brother was deaf, Deaf
and went to boarding school for the deaf, yeah.

I was mainstreamed.

Could you define "older", please?

Fuzzy

No. My parents did that, introduce me to adults who wore hearing aids and could speak and talk. I saw how others treated them and it only perpetuated hatred of deafness. Others would treat them like they were sooooooooo special or they would act a bit discomfited or they would speak to the deaf adults like they were stupid.

If my parents had introduced me to deaf adults who signed fluently and with ease among each other, I would have learned that being a deaf person is not a tragedy but something to be proud of.
Good point...
Except... the question is.. were these people deaf or hearing.?
Were there adults with CI around in that time? If not, yes, you should have been introduced to a Deaf person..

Yea, I remember.

omg...forget it.

Very true.. She cannot hear without her CI.. (actually, she can... the brain hears when she can lipread what people say... and when she speaks without CI on.. she will still hear it.. There are some examples on her blog.. The brain is a magic place.. )

Her life is surrounded with sounds. Speech, music and other sounds... For me, that someone who can hear.

You can't even define "deaf", Is it "not able to hear" or "born deaf even when you can hear"..

Give me a definition and we'll talk about Lotte being deaf..

We can define deaf. You can't, even though you do everything in your power to change it.

Oh no - this is my response to PFH.

I am not saying that Ash was implying that.

I am saying that if any Deaf person wanted to improve the situation of these
CI children,
then getting thru to their parents would yield better results because children are powerless with adults.

yes, show the children who they are but educate their parents.

:laugh2:

You just keep hanging onto that delusion that the CI is going to change everything, despite what the deaf CI users are saying.:laugh2:

Looks like that bloody forehead of yours would require some medical treatment by now.:laugh2:

So you are saying that a Deaf child should NEVER see an adult with CI. Or a child with CI..
because - like you say - "it doesn't work that way"..

When you learn to listen, then I will answer your questions.

I am not saying that Ash was implying that.

Read that sentence.... according to you - ash did not even imply that. My response to that was: I am in 100% support of what Ash did.

Then you decided to twist it into something else. So, no cookie there.

Are you truly as stupid as you act? Or is it just a pretense in your quest to troll?
