BASEBALL talk

Have play college ball, but I am not good enough to play professional ball now...I've been out of baseball for while....do you think i'd ever take Josh Becket for HR? I don't :giggle:

........and thats Strike 3!!!! again.....doug stikes out again

Be optimistic, go for it *cheering* :D

Hey I've taken Scotty Eyre for 2 HR's in high school! and he has played last 10 years in major leagues.....plays for Cubs right now.

He went to your HS? If so, wow! must have been a cool thing to see. One student from my hs went to play with the Toronto Blue Jays let me get a link you can see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eddie_Zosky We both drove the same car in HS 86 Honda CRX

Suspirsed but good to see Manny gone to Dodgers instead one of AL teams. I had enough with his "Manny is just Manny". :D

Thank you, Manny for great season with Red Sox.

I used with best players gone from Boston pro sport teams : Joe Thornton, Asante Samuel, James Posey and now Manny.

Here's the comparsion between Bay and Ramirez.

Jason Bay's 2008 stats

BA HR RBI OBP SLG
.282 22 64 .375 .519

Manny Ramirez's 2008 stats

BA HR RBI OBP SLG
.299 20 68 .398 .529

Manny - 36 years old and $20,000,000 a season and that would be $25M-$30M next season.

Bay - 29 years old and $6,000,000 and that would be around $7M-$9M next season.

Secondly, Red Sox might let Schilling ($8M) go by end of the season.

Manny + Schilling = $28M that Red Sox could find best young player(s) next season. That made sense on Red Sox traded Manny away for future plan. I can't wait to know who is coming in Beantown next season.

Yes, I saw the annoucement on the 3pm news on my local news station. I text msg my friend, she thought it was a rumor and text her back said, no rumor its for real. Yes, she's not happy about it. :h5: L.A. Dodgers Rock :)

Hey O'blue, are you Dodgers fan or Padres? :hmm:

How many managers could Manny play for? If you ask your players to hustle all the time, he is not your guy. But then my Astros have a few guys like that too.

Griffey is getting a chance to play for a contender. At this point in his career that is probably most important.

I agree with your assessment on Manny. He is a great player but he cannot hustle. Sometimes he plays lazy defense that turns off his manager.

It means they will have around $20 millions dollars available to sign two or three free agents next year. I think it is a smart money decision on the Red Sox part.

Naw, he went to neighboring highschool. He had little bro that was exact my age. Scott was 1 yr older. We went to same Jr High Schools. I got to play against him in high school. BTW I know Zosky :)

How do you know Zosky? Wow!

I sense it will be a three way trade between Florida, Boston and Pittsburgh. Florida sends three prospects or two prospects and one player on their 25-men roster to Boston for Manny Ramirez, then Boston will send two Marlins prospects plus one player or prospect from their organization to Pittsburgh for Jason Bay.

I am 2/3 right and 1/3 wrong. :) I suspect that the Marlins did not want to take in Manny for two reasons: his $20 millions salary which would almost doubled their team salary and their reluctant to give up Jeremy Hermida.

Remember that the Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria is a big time cheapstake.

IMHO all the Dodgers, Red Sox and Pirates made a great three-way trade.

IMHO, the Dodgers can have a great season with Manny Ramirez, perhaps they will gain back strenght as a team and bring on winning games it will do good for L.A. :)

Yes, Manny to start at LA tonight....I guess he just show up now. Manny's uni # going to be 99! lol...cuz Valenzuela's 34 # is retired.

I think Chicago White sox, got a steal with Griffey Jr. Look for them to finish off AL central....if they stay healthy. But Minnesota just recalled their Ace Nelson Liriano today from triple A. Detroit has definately taken steps backwards. I picked them to win World Series this year (whoops) Todd Jones struggling and now injured with tendonitis, and of course losing vetran Pudge Rod.

Florida is going to do just what they do every year. Tremendously overachive with what they got...always competing for lowest payroll, and attendance for that matter, only to tail off down stretch. (mostly due to trading off new talent or those with ending contracts) Yes, their owner is CHEAP!

And of course Atlanta just opened their new clubhouse hospital wing. Hudson is now done, everyone else is traded or hurt.....I wanna go in the closet and cry.

Awww don't cry ....I saw Manny at Dodger Stadium on the local news channel, he said, he's in a new city, going to do his best and whatever happened in Boston , he's starting a new chapter in his life as a Dodger. He was speaking in Spanish to some Spanish reporter on English news, he said, the L.A. is full of Latinos and that he fits right in and feels like home, that was funny. I feel good the Dodgers are going to do very well with him and it will be good for L.A. as well to welcome Manny as an L.A. Dodger :cheers:

Im such a dingleberry

I noticed mistake with my referral to Fransico Liriano (who won today for twins to put them in 1st) and called him "Nelson" liriano....(who was player for blue Jays in 80's I think) oops.

How bout Manny kickin some but with Dodgers, goes yard again today
