We received your unopen packet safety last Thursday & want to open it on X-mas Day. I want to inform you straight way but I was too ill and too weak...

I was excited after saw DVD "Out of the Ashes" and want to do that STRAIGHT WAY... unfortunlately it doesn´t work... :( I check back of DVD and realized that it´s an American DVD only, not for the world... :( Danny tried DVD with PS2 but it´s still the same... :(

See the example ... If you see "4" which mean is for Europe & also world, too... This DVD "Rosewood", Tamara mailed to me at 2 years ago. It work because of "4"

This one you send me have no "4" shown... it mean for America only... :(

I know I didn´t inform you about this before you bought in first place. :(

That´s how I learn from Magastu during AIM last year. We talked about "Rosewood" where Tamara mailed to me... I check "Rosewood" DVD straight way after Magastu´s description over "4"... (See the example picture)...

The reason I created a thread to inform you all if you want to buy DVD to mail Europe then please check "4" back of DVD...

Yes, we tried with Electrical store where we are good customer for years... They confirmed the same thing about "4". They suggest that you check with the owner of DVD stores about deliver DVD to Europe before buy DVD... He or She will tell you which DVD...

^Angel^, I thank you very much for fulfilling my wish to have DVD... We do not need DVD here... Should I return DVD back to you...? I know you did it wonderful to fulfilling my wish... I accept it´s my fault for not inform you about "4" before. I´m very sorry... :(

^Angel^, please let me know when you receive packet from me. I mailed it last Tuesday.

Aw you got to be kidding me?... :(

It's okay, I'm glad you told me now about this....too bad you couldn't be able to see this true story movie, I know you will love it ....

We'll get you something else....

Should I return DVD to you?

Yes, it sound very interesting... I read back of DVD... I REALLY REALLY REALLY WANT to see it.... :( :tears:

Perhaps you can check with the owner of DVD store where you bought about this... ? Ask them about deliver to Europe... with number "4"... (see the picture example...)

I thought you said it was banned in Germany?.....

Yes, send it back to me, and we'll get you something else....

Liebling, European version is Region 2. I have many DVDs with Region 2 from Europe, and the American DVDs are Region 1. Also, American DVDs are NTSC whereas Europe and Australia are on PAL system.

Check this link:
http://hometheaterinfo.com/dvd3.htm

Region 4 is for Australia only. But it probably played on your DVD because both are PAL systems.

My DVD player is region-free dvd player, which means I can change the DVD region settings and watch any DVDs from anywhere in the world. It was not expensive, I got mine for like 75 dollars, so maybe you can find a cheap one in Germany.

On the phgoto of the dvd which Angel sent you, it shows the world with "1" on it, which indicates the region. CC means close captioning for the deaf, but of course, it would not work in Germany with the Videotext Untertiteln.

Sounds like a good idea, Liebling can you do that by buying one that K-75 has that way you can watch any movies that your friends send you thru mail?... :dunno:

wow K75, thank you for a wonderful link... Angel, I would not return DVD to you yet until I will find out cons/pros about DVD because we want to buy other DVD soon for 2nd living room. That´s good suggestion of K75... I will remember important things is "region-free dvd player".

Yes, you could be right that "4" is from Australia... Tamara mailed DVD "Rosewood" to me at 2 years ago... it work well on my DVD... That´s how Magastu and I talked about this last year...

Angel, it´s 2 region... to Europe... :thumb: - I am trying to get region-free DVD player soon for my 2nd living room and move my old DVD player back to 1st living room...

Thank you again K75

Yes...

I visited German websites and search to find where I can buy DVD from German stores... none.... :(

I saw back of DVD "for violence/cruelty & some nudity" which it means is heavy one... German ban a lot of heavy voilence/cruelty... and we have some of voilence DVD but there´re a lot of missing... they cut it off... The reason they doing is protect the children from volience accord German law. We have few nazi DVD here... none what we really want to see... All what I do is ask my friends from other countries to send us one...

Wow, I learned something about the region #. I never knew about it til Leib brought it up. Thanks!

thanks for teaching us SO mucha bout the codes thats SO intresting leibling i apperticate it :)

off topic:

there are some softwares somewhere online that you can convert the movie from PAL to NTSC or from NSTC to PAL. first of all have you tried ur dvd on ur PC to see if it works if so then you can rip it to harddrive then convert it to PAL then burn it.

it is up to you. play safe! :)

Interesting--some of you do have some useful information to turn to and be aware of...unfortunately, sorry that the DVD didn't have the proper code to enable you to watch on your DVD...although, a couple good suggestions were made in this thread relating to the DVD movie, one is, whether or not your PC has a DVD set-up or not, if it does, you could try it there and go the way that Deafclimber has suggested for you to try first before going out and buying a DVD that's compatible for any DVD movie made anywhere in the world...there's quite a few DVD movies that do have the sub-titles with various of languages as well...we'll bear this in mind the next time we search for any DVD movies for our foreign friends-- ;)

Thanks to the members here for their input and suggestions in this thread!

(P.S. You're most welcome and am glad that your gift arrived safely-- :) )
