ASL with no fingerspelling

now you are talking gibberish... seriously if you want to remain credible (at least with me) then answer the question instead of dancing around it. You are dealing with people that are more intelligent than you are obviously giving credit for. Do you honestly expect me to believe what you are saying or will you finally answer the question and stop dancing around it.

then how did Americans get what they want in foreign country who doesn't speak English? same thing.

Strictly by speaking English only?

Aren't general hand motions and pointing different from strict ASL?

But PFH, that implies that you are conforming to their world!!!! Lipreading them?? That's what they want!!!

HOW COULD YOU?????

Thats how you see it... I sign to them in my language, and they speak to me, and we reach a mutual understanding...

Hence one of many reasons I say to give ASL to all children. That is all.

:) Having mutual understanding is great!

ASL as a class. Hey, sounds good to me.

Question: Do you think that you can talk business with someone who learned ASL in 4th grade? Better than talking to someone who doesn't know ASL at all?

Honestly, to me, teaching all hearing people as kids ASL is not really about 100% communication.... simply because most of them will never be fluent in the later years due to lack of practice.

But.. perhaps you see the ultimate purpose of teaching ASL to all children is to have more respect for the deaf? Reduce the perceived notions? Basically, make society more accepting of the deaf?

dammmmmmmmmit...

I just went to a bank that i never went to before and signed to the cashier... guess what, she got someone that signed and boom, transaction clear and smoooth.. fking damn no camera..

First: i would never talk business without an interpreter.

Second: You are the correct in your last paragraph.

Ah.

Should had figured out the interpreter thing. I wonder how much it would cost to hire one for roughly 6 or 7 hours. :hmm: Or if they could handle that environment even? (in context of expo)

for 7 hours, they will need to have a team interpreter. and they will be able to handle that enviroment too.

Depending on the cost, here its cheap.

Having interpreters can be handy if around all the time when one is in social interactions. Hopefully not to expensive to somebody! What happens when they ARE NOT around and the other person/s DOES Not know ASL? Smile!

Please stop. This is getting embarrassing and a third grader could figure out solutions to these things you pose.

You don't think outside the box very often... do you?

He said he doesn't conduct business without an interpreter. Most business deals are known ahead of time, seldom on the spot. So because I knew there was an expo coming up, there's no real excuse for me not to book one unless I was too poor.

I wouldn't consider grocery shopping, doing errands, going out to restaurants or having a conversation with a random guy at a bus stop, "business."

And the bazaar system is pretty much dead in America.

If you wish to make out like a clam and hide from the society, be my guest. I am not doing that. Too much in the world to miss out on.

Thanks to my Cochlear Implant will be a "quiet dance" of about 250 people tomorrow night. Even going to one scheduled for Sunday night, Monday night and dance "classes on Wednesday ,Thursday and Friday next week. Yeah-right- dance of silent clams. Not exactly a "hermit in the desert". One of the reasons I got the Implant in the first place. Dances are of course, Cochlear Implant exercise-different sounds: loud music and quiet people voices at the same time.

Why do I have a mental image of PFH mouthing the words slowly as he is signing for simple and predictable sentences to hearing people? Then PFH saying "see? Anyone can understand ASL!!"

Hope the vlog can prove me wrong.
