Same thing, HA batteries can be free as well. There's a few people here that can just stop by their audiologist office and get batteries for free.

Hmm... I don't know nowadays but in my old time we had to pay for them.

Still it won't change my mind to use HAs, anyway.

If I want to get batteries from my CI audiologist, she has to process it through my insurance carrier first. Instead of dealing with all of the insurance hassles, I pay for them myself in bulk online. I set aside a certain amount of money every month specifically for CI batteries and make sure I'm well stocked so that I never have to worry about running out. Given how much my CIs have benefitted me, I'd say it's well worth the cost. :)

Why would you have to go through your Audiologist? Cochlear has a special form that you send to them with your insurance information, then they will have it on file. The next time you order from them, it will be easy.

I wonder if this only applies to Medicaid or Medicare though.

I happen to have Medicaid and Medicare, but have never contacted Cochlear about battery reimbursement. However, now that I know all that is required is a simple form, I'll be sure to contact them ASAP.

Ptth, that's easy. All you need is a form that says "Medicare reimbursement form" from Cochlear, you fill it out and you're good to go. I did that, but I haven't really gotten the chance to take advantage of that. I am going to contact them soon because I heard the new rechargeable batters are thinner, so it should reduce the problem of the cracking.

Hugs!

Hey guys who are AGANIST CI. Will you respect to my thread? Please don't start with bash and flame war and hijack on my thread! Please RESPECT to other CI members. If you don't listen to me. I will ask for close my thread. Please RESPECT to my thread! :ty:

P.S. You guys can post with poll. You disagree with CI for reason. It's okay to disagree. Then DON'T POST it here to discuss and against each other. :ty: again

I actually received hearing aids when I was 11 years old and going into fifth grade in the fall. Sharp teachers notified my parents and it was taken care of from there. And yes, the doctors (including the audiologist) dropped the ball on this one, as they've been testing my hearing for years and told my parents that I didn't need hearing aids . . . until I started almost failing in school.

Hello
My case is not in the pool. I never have had a HA befre my 18 yo. So now I am wearing a BAHA hearing aid.

I used to wear the hearing aids when I was a kid, but they aren't work for me. Even, a few Doctors and Auto(sp; dr for ear) said that I can't have hearing aid or ceclor implant because of my ceclors(both) are really damaged so badly since they don't have thing that can fix in with ceclor implant, they are very sure that they will make new ceclor implant for my ears in a few years later OR so which is very suck for me. So I guess I'm very deaf than everybody in here even maybe in whole of the world? :(

Dude, you're not alone, I was told that I couldn't get one of these CI's back in 1999. Due to the nerves connected to the brain or whatnot are damaged.

I wear HAs since I was 8-9 yrs old and yes, to wear HAs for the rest of my life.

Me too! Me too!

Well I havent worn mine for very long, just about 2 months now. I have 2 digital zon 7 BTE's by starkey also just diagnosed with Menieres, things lately have seemed to go down hill :( Hearing aids help but they are about to be pushed to the max. SOOOOO $$$$$ too, these were 2,300 and my insurance wouldnt cover them so I had to take about a 4600 hit ughh

I no longer wear hearing aids (I have CIs), but I received my first pair of HAs at age 15.

I don't wear hearing aids any more.

I would like to get a tactiaid7 but they say I need to contact Audiologist for that and it's going to take a while. I use a tactaid which I found helpful before I dropped it. Now it just works tempromentally.
Tactaids turn sound into vibrations. They are useful for people who for whatever reason can't benifit from CI's. Particularly if they are deafblind. Tactaid's are no longer made but it seems that they are still selling the newer tactaid7's. Only they don't sell directly to customers only through audiologists which is a pity.

dreama,

Here is a website where you can order a catalog from an international or U.S. Tactaid 7 distributor:

Tactaid 7

An e-mail address is also listed on that website. You might want to contact them by e-mail to ask if they sell the Tactaid 7 to individuals.

Thanks for the link.

I contacted them but they only suply to Audiologists. Not directly to individuals.

Thank y'all for posts with poll about yourself. Hearing aids is still leading over CI. I am definitely CI will be lead over HA in future. Who know.
