They've never used fetuses, but they were talking about using embryonic stem cells.

So that means the fright-wingers that cry about the use of fetuses are basing their arguments against stem cell on a LIE?

Wouldn't be the first time. :giggle:

They use embryos at the stage just after fertilization. After stem cells start to become specialized, they cannot be used to become another tissue type nor can it be reversed. We are not at the technological level to literally create stem cells out of mature cells that are part of a known tissue.

I support stem cell research, because it would benefit a lot of people with different diseases and problems and disorders.

Oh yes, I support Stem Cell Research... I do not need to add my post why I am for it because everyone here said the same thing which is good enough.

The poll got me curious why anyone vote "No"? I'd like to know what's his/her reason?

*rasies a hand slowly* That's me... I'm pretty feeling so bummed when there is only one is me. =/

Well, I don't want to explain why I don't support it since a lot of AllDeaf users seem support it. I bet they will shut me out and bitch at me for not support it. Whatever. =/ :[

Oh don't worry for constructive arguments or criticism. Let your voice be heard. It's shallow, uneducated comments that you just ignore those people.

So do I. I used to be against stem cell research until my mother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. After seeing her suffer for several months before her death, it gave me a completely new perspective.

If you don't want to explain why. That's fine. It's your decide.

Noooooo, you misunderstand my post.

I said that I do not need to add something on my post because ADers said the exact what I thought the same thing why we support Stem Cell Research.

Oh, :ty: for admit that it´s you who vote No. I respect what you are no matter when you see different as me...

Pinky did made a rule in her thread to not bash each other´s POV. I would be interesting to learn your POV why you are not for it.

I support Stem Cell Research that cure almost all of the organs that need to be healed. i.e. a new heart, new regeneration hearing, eliminate MS and scary Alzheimer's.

Yes, University of Michigan made a proof that a tiny heart, at a lab, is working successfully. Yet, we still have to wait in a few years to make it officially.

I'm sorry. I haven't search for Stem Cell Research at AD. So I added board on polls.

Exactly. What they are using is the product for in vitro fertilization that has been frozen but not used, and would otherwise be destroyed. These products of conception have never seen the inside of a woman's body.

Really?? Did you donated your umbilical cord after baby was born? It's very interesting. Do I should use my umbilical cord after my future baby birth to treat my vision disease? I just wonder

YOu can always talk with your doctor and see what he says what you would like to do with your baby umbilical cord. It can help with your baby to be treated for vision disease or other children in your family can be use to treated to fight cancer. I believe it worth all the risk to do that, even if that means getting preg again to use that umbilcial cord for my child to be treated to fight cancer as well.

Right now - no because nobody knows how to.... but what you can do is to cryo-freeze the umbilical cord and hope that scientist will figure it out in the future. This is expensive though and maybe in the future - the scientists don't even need umbilical cord.

I just come back here and check the poll. Still only one... Bummer. ^^;
But, thank you for nice commentary, Liebling and Pinky.

Well, I'm not sure if I want to explain why I am against it... =/
