Really?? Did you donated your umbilical cord after baby was born? It's very interesting. Do I should use my umbilical cord after my future baby birth to treat my vision disease? I just wonder

who knows! That's why we desperately need our government to allow stem cell research in here! Maybe we don't even need umbilical cord.... we won't know more unless the government let scientists research on it.

I support it fully. As for the aborted fetus to be used for research, that is the mother's decision and her private business. I think it is very noble of them to be willing to contribute to science.

Yes, I do support stem cell research, as I see it as the next step in finding cures for many dibilitating diseases. I am not so concerned about it's application to deafness, but to other diseases that result in early death and profound disability.

It does apply to deafness as well as any tissue in the body. Stem cells are initially reproduced from sex cells, depending on the genes expressed, they will eventually become specialized cells forming a certain organ/tissue. That process still eludes scientists, though once mastered, they could very well transplant hair cells, whole cochlea organs, or neural tissue to naturally restore hearing.

I am well aware of how it applies to deafness. I just said I was more concerned regarding its application to disease that cause shortened life span and profound disability more.

And the process is not completely unknown, as medical researchers have recently discovered a way to reverse any cell in the body back to a stem cell. In order to reverse the procedure, they have to understand the procedure that occurs from stem cell to specialized cell.

I support stem cell research because its benefits outweigh the arguments that of extreme pro-lifers. I'd want research to save lives. No research = no saving lives. It's as simple as that to me.

I'm ok about using adult stem cells or stem cells from abigual cord.

In fact I would be happy to donate my own cells for research.

However I don't really see a need for the stem cells from embryos when the cells from adult volunteers would do.

The reason why we are able to use stem cell from umbilical cord is because we started with embryos. That is the first step. Now we are able to move onto next step - the umbilical cord. Next step is ......

Point is - you cannot go to Step B without going to Step A first. That's why animal research is vital. Every medical advancement are always crude at first but it usually quickly advance to next level to more humane and ethical methods.

By the way - since you supported stem cell research... it originated from animal research and it's still is. :hmm:

Yeah, I do support stem cell research to help improve disease free life, I believe. Michigan just passed the ballot for allowing stem cell research recently.

I do support Stem Cell Research for health purposes such as disease, disabilities to find a cure :)

Oh yes, I support Stem Cell Research... I do not need to add my post why I am for it because everyone here said the same thing which is good enough.

The poll got me curious why anyone vote "No"? I'd like to know what's his/her reason?

If you don't want to explain why. That's fine. It's your decide.

Is in Michigan??? I didn't know that. Michigan is my next state. :) I need to figure it out about Stem Cell Research. I will ask my cousin know because she is attend to Michigan University. They are support Stem Cell Research.

I don't want to use abort fetus. I prefer use umbilical cord natural from live baby born.

Seq said in Michigan is vote for Stem Cell Research for science.

we don't need to abort fetus anymore. We're already past that. I'm very glad about that because it does raise ethical and moral issues.

Yup I do support this, it's doctor's choices to research, but also as volunteers as well.

my vote says yes!

many million people who had sick with stem cells very seriously but doctors need seriously to fix and find negatives or positives.

im sure elect-president Obama would agree for getting serious sick patient but need approve.
