Are you a brave toaster?

Psst.. Loghead, You're 16, almost 17, you're supposed to have social anxieties and teen angst. You're (quiver from using the word...) normal. Self esteem, confidence, all that Crap, comes with time. I think you're pretty cool. :cool2:

LOL! So true, Nette! Also, I never would have thought of using normal as a word to describe me.
And thanks, Nette! You seem pretty cool, too! :)

I see. a lot of people have social anxieties at young age but it's normal. there's a certain time frame where most people get over it and some gets over it later than normal.

I hope you do get over it soon! college time is usually when most people get over it. they usually come back as different people after a year - a more confident person. don't worry :)

For sure. It seems that the first year is when a lot of people mature more. I have no doubt that I will get over it sooner or later!

Loghead, you're young and you'll grow more confident over time. I was a "late bloomer" and I improved my social skills over time. I suspect that you will, too.

I'm 46 and it seems I am regressing. I was always the little social butterfly when I was younger, but now, I cringe when meeting anyone new and I clam up.

Believe it or not, I used to be an ugly duckling.

Yep it's true.

Now I am simply a duckling :)

Things DO get better with time!!

Really? I used to be so shy and would get buzzed so I could "socialize" among my hearing peers. Now, after bieng involved with the Deaf community for over 10 years, I find myself adapting well around hearing people when I couldnt before.

However, I am becoming more of a homebody these days...due to being tired and overworked and $$.

get some CAR BOMB (alcoholic shot) when you get over it

BOOM!

Ugh, your brother reminds me of my sister. She told me there were roaches in black olives... so even to this day, I still look inside the olives before I eat them

:laugh2: Yeah, my brother said fish eyes were always mixed in with tapioca. I don't know why I ever believed anything he told me, but I still can't stomach tapioca pudding!

I think it's because people really find out who they are in college. You on your own, you get to start over, you get to do what you want and decide things for yourself. I was a completely different person by the end of my first semester. You do a lot of growing up (hopefully, anyway) in a very short amount of time.

Well, that or you go completely nuts because you can't handle freedom or personal responsibility...

I'm guilty nope. I didn't want to share my tapioca with the kids, and one day when they took MY tapioca and left me without I walked over to the table where they were eating, took a deep sniff, and said, "You know that's whale spooge right?"

I've never had to share my tapioca again. That was, oh... 5, 6 yrs ago.

I couldn't touch my mother's lemonade because she convinced me it was urine for her doctor o_O

I'm that shy and unconfident i hate going out to meet new people. I wish I could get over it :(

I am not that good at signing, I wish I felt I belonged in both worlds (deaf and hearing) but I don't really know which one I do belong in

It takes time to find the identity :)

Also, I'm probably the pickiest eater on earth. It drives people insane. I didn't eat pizza until I was fourteen. I wouldn't even try it. My mom would take peanut butter sandwiches with us when the family wanted to go to pizza hut and I would have a sandwich and the salad bar. I was probably the only child ever who chose salads over pizza. I never ate chocolate either until I learned to like dark chocolate. And I don't like ice cream, cake, or desserts in general. I always wanted soft pretzels for my birthday :)

Bring on the weirdness, kids. I know you all have stranger flaws than you're letting on

Oh! And I don't like white sauces on noodles. Or milk. Well, dairy in general. I don't like hot drinks, any sea food, or pig products. I hate mayonnaise and eggs.

But I do like the flavour of cranberry juice right after I brush my teeth, which is probably the grossest thing on earth, huh?

Mmm, it is most definitely bedtime before I start sharing flaws that are really embarrassing :)

I can't stand it if my food is touching one another. It has to be separated... not to be touching each other. Then I eat one at a time like for example, i would eat all green beans, then eat all turkey then eat all carrots. Weird I know
