Are Deaf People More Religious Than Most?

Yes I can understand and don't blame them for that. I really cannot beleive and don't understand why they want deaf people for?

Yep, I noticed that too, It like JW trying to "lure" me to their side of the religion group. They just can't keep picking and knocking people s door at home to give us their sermon. :)

That's what I wonder, too. Last year, a couple of hearing JW's that sign came to my front door. They said, "Oh, we were expecting a deaf person here." I told them no one deaf lives in our house, and never did. I asked how they got that information. They kept saying that a "neighbor" told them. I knew that wasn't true. So whatever way they got their information, they weren't being honest about it.

I also found out that JW hospital workers notify their people when a deaf patient or family member shows up at the hospital. Then, the workers arrange for the JW's to get visitor passes so they can "pop in" to patients' rooms. That is totally against hospital privacy policy.

Wow thats so wrong! i am going to have surgery next month and i am going to tell nurse that i dont want to get visits from JW people. no offense to those who are affailated with JW.

Thanks for the tip! :)

Where did you hear that?

Actually, if they visit you... they are trespassing because they are not family.

Simply call security or the cops. ;)

yeah but what if the nurse is with Jw and they tell other nurse who know signlanguage and come in to tell me? ugh..

if that happens..i will just report them to the management..

I wouldn't exactly say that deaf people are more religious... just more gullible when it comes to religion.

According to several door-to-door Bible-thumpers, they target deaf people more often cuz they're gullible and can be easily persuaded to join their religion.

A friend of mine was visited by a Mormon one day. That Mormon admitted that he knew my friend was deaf before my friend even said anything. After the conversation, my friend asked how the Mormon knew he was deaf. The Mormon showed my friend a huge booklet with a listing of every registered deaf person living in the city. My friend took the booklet and slammed the door on his face.
Agreed. This is from my own experience around the deaf population, most seemed more gullible when it comes to that.

We had Mormons visiting us for a while. We didn't know anything about the so-called religious because they used other words (Latter-day Saints) rather than Mormons. We were so interested in attending the "church," it wasn't until I looked up what Latter-day Saints were. They continued coming to our house only to find nobody answering the doors and calls, it lasted a little over a week.

I was wondering how they knew me and where I lived. I called up somebody at the deaf center and asked him, if he gave them the info, which he denied. I still think it was him, because he was the only deaf one in contact that time. Too bad one of the Mormon girls was so hot.

It was probably not him, but someone else in the deaf center.

All contact information is collected in various databases. It can be when you sign up for a health club, when you go to a hospital, when you go to school, when you sign up for a website, etc... and those information can be accessed in many ways.

I've been getting spam because my email was posted on a deaf website years ago. Even when I never reply to their emails, they all know that I'm deaf and keep pestering me. I simply mark their emails as spam and move on. :)

Now I know whenever I'm in the hospital.. I'll put an america flag on my door. I've had this couple keep looking for me and my husband to encourage us to go to JW church. We already told them straight up that we are not into JW that we're baptist. Well, I heard last week, the very same couple are soooo eager to find out where we live (we just moved to another house) I'm like when will they ever learn that we're not a JW believer??? Now, I'm deffy gonna go get a flag and put it up on my porch and I certainly hope that works.

its crazy that they're so desperate to use people like that.

If it was a nurse or another nurse that could help with sign language need to keep the religion out. this is a health matter. you're in a hospital trying to get well not to be preached or not to be forced to go to a JW church. if that's the case, you being bothered, i'd talk with the head of nurse and tell them you want a different nurse who just want to take care of people not to be preached.

Eh? How does having an American flag prove that you're not interested in Jehovah's Witnesses?

I didn't "hear" about any of it. I experienced it myself.

The first example happened to me at my house.

The second example happened at a hospital where I was present.

The rules for hospital staff members is:

HHS - Office for Civil Rights - HIPAA
That sucks.

There will always be connections and "spies" everywhere.

There's nothing we can do about it. The best we can do is to identify these "spies" and ensure that proper actions are made towards them.

Maybe, it was a hospital worker. Maybe, it was another person who snuck in the hospital. Maybe, it was just a passerby.

I had that issue in my dorm building last year. A woman came in with a bunch of kids. She managed to sneak on the elevator with the kids and then would go floor to floor. Instead of herself giving out JW stuff, she had the kids go door to door using their "cute" attitude to give out pamphlets. My co-RA and I busted them and had them removed from the building.
