Anyone of you who apply for a job at this moment? For me, I am still looking around job available but very very limited in my office.

How about you??

how often do you check to find a job list??

:fruit:

Can newspaper subscription go to different person?

My grandma subscripted to Chicago Tribune. She got newspaper every day. I was wondering what the rules are to pass subscription to someone else?

I don't plan to renew the subscription, but I was thinking I would like to get newspaper for rest of subscription. Maybe someone else in family would want them too.

Point of post is to ask if any of you have passed subscription from the passing person to someone else. How did it work out for you?

No idea. thats a good question. :)

To be honest,
I looked every day for new job listings.
Even now I have a job... I still look at the job posts to see if there are any that I can do.

Most of the big employers (like Boeing) around here use internet listings instead of the paper. They also require prospective employees to apply thru the state employment center, usually online.

Small businesses still use newspaper ads.

I am in the middle of job hunting (I'm unemployed...:( ). I try to check every day. I look at several job boards- am subscribed to a few specialized searches- those are sent to my email daily. I also always keep an eye out on many sites that I may surf to-- check out the "CAREERS" or "JOBS" (or similar) link on their pages. Sometimes some friends send me possible leads on jobs.

I have not looked at a newspaper in a very long time. Most are online now although I think some jobs are still posted in hard copy newspapers.

but when I was job-hunting... I did check everyday.

Plenty of jobs available at farmlands, and shoveling snow at big cities in Upstate New York.

If you plan to move where the jobs are, Monster dot com is a good place to look, My buddy landed a $200K+ job in IT, moved to Germany and made a fortune. He recently returned to the states and is working here now. Im not saying you have to move overseas ( he just got lucky ) but tons of jobs here in various states , you can spectify your state or look at everything.... Me, Money motivates me...lol

What are the chance of getting laid off in few months from snow shoveling? My guess would be 99.99999999999% certainty

Job hunting has changed from 15 years ago. Mostly done online. Rarely paper applications. I've gotten jobs easily 15+ years ago by walking into a place I want to work at, fill out application, and get a call for an interview. Never fails. Now I can't do that and it seems that online gets more competition than walking in to get an application. I had a feeling that back then there wasn't much competition so I got jobs easily.

I like indeed.com and what I find useful is that you can set up a job search agent so that you get daily emails alerting you of new job postings.

Tip: If you upload your resume every month it will alert recruiters that you're looking and will likely contact you directly. This can be much more efficient than trying to apply to anything.

I have been applying for several jobs...

Gallaudet University
Public schools
Maryland Dept of Ed
and
Federal Govt jobs.

One of my applications met all of the criteria for one of the federal govt jobs and was sent to the hiring dept. *crossing fingers*
