Allergies? Fluid in your Ear?

I am profoundly deaf and don't care for tattoo. Don't go out of way to get tattoo just because it is part of Deaf Culture or you feel like you need to belong.

By the way, I always wonder how a high fever can cause hearing loss. I ask as I know some people who have lost hearing from high fever.

Not at all the reason why I'd want a tattoo to begin with :aw:. I have a few tattoos (but not many and all have meaning behind them and just personal meanings, not just because of that awesome new band or anything like that crap.) it wouldn't be for anyone else but myself. Just wanted to be clear on that lol. I realize not everyone has a taste for tattoos.

Funny you ask about the fever part, apparently I had a fever for a week straight but didn't lose my hearing til awhile later from that I suppose. Could be from a infection of some sort. The doctors now are trying to figure out if I have lupus, so who knows. Everything happens for a reason.

In 13 hours.... I will have my answers folks.... think I'm going to have a nice bottle of wine, have a relaxing night and attempt to sleep as early as possible. I will keep you all updated.

Ok guys so its allergy season for me again and the ringing in my ear is constant, my hearing in my good ear sounds like its blocked by something. (kinda between traveling up and down mountains with popping sounds and as if you got water in your ears).... This has been going on for a month now, I've tried allergy meds and nothing is helping. I'm losing my freakin mind, I have no health insurance... someone help me out here.

Also, I went to my audiologist to look at my ear and he said from what he sees I may either have a big ear drum or fluid in my ear from allergies, hes not a doctor for that so he can't help me...

If I'm babbling I'm sorry I'm just fustrated, what do I do guys?

Yes, it did happen to me when I was so little. It was pretty often until it stopped when I was five or something.

EDIT: Oh and, the ringing in my ears don't happen until I was 13 or so. It still does... I wish they just go away, sometimes. Ah, well...

I hope all goes well for you. I am still praying for you.

So now I have to wait for the neurologist to schedule an appointment with me to find out the results on my blood work.... omfg I want answers already!!!! Nothing new to really report,I'm STILL waiting to see a ENT. My doctor just said "oh, I remember you.... yes and what did your neurologist say? oh hmm... well there's not much I can really do for you today, if you do decide to get on disability I can fill out the forms for you and the audiologist will need to as well.... but I don't know how the blood work the neurologist requested went."

Seriously?? I wake up and show up at 8 am to hear a "hi how are things?" talk? grrr!! :D

Sometimes, I think doctors drag things out to get more pay.

Oh LadySolitary, I can so relate to the crap you are going through with doctors....

When "we" didn't know what was wrong with me it drove me nuts. Sometimes, even after a bad episode it'd be like, "oh, we'll see you in a month". Or other times, we need to see you as soon as possible - and it'd be exactly like what you got: "what did the other doctor say?" Grrrr.

We want answers as soon as possible because it's our life and our health. That waiting feels longer regardless of the actual time. And the not knowing.

Just know we all are here for you! Can't give you answers, but we can give support.

Did the Doctor go Quack? He sounds like a quack doctor to me... :giggle:

There's another word that sorta rhymes with "quack" as well beginning with c... :giggle:

Went to my starkey audiologist and my freakin $200 custom ear mold came in, never seen ear molds like this though! its hard plastic and has a built in speaker. It almost sounds exactly like it did when I first got starkey, so at least I know there is some progress in a investment. My ear feels a little sore but I'm giving it a little time since the guy shaved a bit down to ease some comfort.

Yea my doctor is strange lol

Ok, Im confused. What is custom ear-mold with speaker? In ear hearing aid? I tried one time and I hated hard plastic ear-mold.

Ok I attached a pic of what it looks like. :aw: This is Starkey's RIC (Reciver in Canal with the ear mold itself being a custom made (to fit your ear only) and the mold itself also has a speaker.

Yea its pricey but its because of the speaker inside the mold. At least its helping me a bit more.... as I sink deeper into debt lol

yep, noticing soreness in my ear, not sure if its too big or just needs to be sanded down more but not very comfortable. Hope I can last til the weekend :(
