That sounds reasonable but I am curious, As you stated, it's $100 for a combo. I assume that the $100 combo would go for the early birds and how would that be worth for those who are regulars and those who shows up at the door? Correct me if I'm mistaken.

As I stated earlier, the $100.00 is just a suggestion of what to pay ahead of time - anything left over would be refunded or applied towards the Cedar Point group rate fee. It is always possible that people would have to pay a bit more, but at least the majority would be out of the way.

the more members come, the cheaper it will be??? OR it won't make a difference? I'm still coming, that's for sure!

As for refundable/non-refundable - registration fee is totally non-refundable. However, because of what happened last year, it would have to be all non-refundable. You would need to make absolutely sure you could go - sometimes when you're not totally sure if you can go, it may be better to pay at the door, even with the higher cost.

As far as I know, the event will be during the weekend of July 16-20, 2008. It depends on the hotel - and the combo price will depend on what the final outcome of the contract comes to.

Remember, the contract usually includes the cost of the reception, banquet, special rooms such as meeting/banquet rooms, also the cost of the employees working during the event.

Also, please remember that the cost of the group ticket rate for Cedar Point is separate from the combo cost.

You are still responsible for booking and paying for your own hotel room.

The reason I'm saying this is because - Supposedly she already had reserved the caucus for all of us and thought that the ones who went didn't show up and left her with a huge bill like (for what happened last year), How would she be able to pay the costs if the tickets were refundable and to pay up a huge bill? I think in order of that, it (in my opinions) should be nonrefuldable for this Caucus because that will pay off the bill and other expenses. Also, there's an advantage to the nonrefundable thing because whatever is left over from that expenses can be rolled over into 2010 AD Caucus fund or something like that.

I know most of you would prefer a refundable ticket -- It is understandable when emergencies, personal situations, so and on arises. But, If you guys are really appreciated of what AllDeaf does to serve you guys then you'd have a heart to understand and to agree. ;)

It's just my 2 cents. I'm up for some disagree/agreements with respect, of course. Let's get the ball rolling because the more we discuss about the situations related to AD Caucus 2008, That will help the committee get ideas and how to make it the best AD Caucus 2008 ever!

I just got the inquiry from a very upscale hotel in Sandusky - they are building an indoor water park, remember that.

Their room rates are $159.00 per night on Wednesday and Thursday, and $179.00 per night on Friday and Saturday, plus additional taxes.

That would come to $676.00 PLUS taxes per room - if 4 sleeps in each room, it would come to $169.00 per person. However, if you do come on Thursday, then it would be $517.00 PLUS taxes per room, and the breakdown would be
$129.25.

Also, remember there will be combo costs -

The hotel is saying that it would be $150.00 for room rental PLUS cost of food and beverage for 40 people - and advising me to move the banquet to Friday night from Saturday night and it would be $200.00 rental, plus the cost of food and beverage for 40 people. If I could guarantee 150 people, we could have the banquet Saturday night at $500.00 for the room rental, since their minimum for Saturday is 100 people.

Now do you see why I go thru a lot of gray hairs?

The hotel also says that for those who reserve rooms there, each guest room would come with 4 water park passes. I do not know if this is good for the whole time we are there, or just for one day.

Let me know - I need to keep searching if this makes you scream.

Remember, I do not want to get stuck with the overhead again.

Another way to do this - we could just get together at the hotel, spend the weekend there, and not worry about a reception or banquet, but instead, break up into groups and go out to dinner.

Cedar Point is still for Friday!!!
 
Another option could be this - go with the hotel, have the reception Thursday night to get acquainted, pay/pick up the Cedar Point tickets, and talk away the night. We could get cheese/cracker platters, along with fruits and small dessert dishes.
