Indian ocean has not updated sateille since 1990s and no GPS-equipped. eh.
you should know that wireless signal can be disrupted and sporadic at any time because there are many dead spots around the world. very unreliable. that's the whole point of having a recording box!

Hard to believe.

All airplanes must have ADS-B by 2015 and 2017 for retrofit. (sigh) Long way.
I cant view it. it says i need to log on.
since it's oversea - there's no cell signal
Then how was my daughter able to call me on her cell phone when on a cruise ship in that was in the ocean?

The depth of the problem - The Washington Post
The blackbox is useless after 30 days for beacons due battery life AND too DEEP in the ocean.

they found titanic then can they find the aiplane???
I don't know why people have continued to say the blackboxes are useless after 30 days. It is just the sound from the pinger signal the runs out after approximately 30 days.
Here is an example from the Air France crash "investigators took nearly two years to retrieve the main wreckage and "black boxes" from Flight 447." That is from an article in USA Today that was posted already 6:08 p.m. EDT March 9, 2014. As Air France crash showed, recovery can be long, daunting Of course, how quickly they expected the wreckage to be found back then turned out to be wrong. But how long the "blackboxes" will remain useful is not.
Do you know what is beacons? Right? It's part of pinger/signal. Again, It's become useless after 30 days for beacons.
Did you read a link? It's already explained about Flight 447 after two years and why bother to explain me?
So already $50 million spent for just the blackbox that all people already died.
If ADS-B exist already then they will know what's exactly happen already.
Yeah, they are not giving up at all. They want the plane, found. End of story.useless? it's not useless. they will find it with or without pinger.
