Think it's a good idea? Personally, I do.

Lithium is a popular drug used to help bipolar. Studies show that in populations where they drink lithium-rich water, the rates of bipolar and suicide are remarkably lower than those who don't.

There's also a suggestion it may also prolong life.

I think we should add lithium to water just like we do with fluoride.

First add kickapoo joy juice for testing purposes.

Why? Just curious... you don't care that you are MORE likely to commit suicide if you don't drink lithium-water? Or that you may be more likely to have bipolar?

She is more likely to dance a naked jig than to drink lithium-contaminated water.

I find it highly unlikely.

Some other thoughts.

How much or how little lithium does it require to make a difference? How much is too much? How do you regulate how much water anyone drinks? What about side effects?

What else should be added to the water supply to control people's behaviors? :hmm:

Please tell me this app isn't your only news source.

Seriously, everything is dose-related. The addition of lithium is only in trace amount, it's about 1000th of a regular dose that you'd get from medicinal lithium.

But studies show that trace amounts may help control their moods and prevent suicides and even prolong their lives.

So, why are you afraid of lithium being added? Is it just a mere fact that lithium is a "drug" even though lithium is a NATURAL element found all over the world?

People are obsessed with "pure" water but if you drink pure water, not only that it will taste damn awful, it will actually kill you because it would draw minerals from your body and disrupt your electrolytes! You need to have some minerals in water. Truly pure water is found only in manufacturing such as silicon processing where it is used as a SOLVENT!

If studies show the benefits of adding lithium to water and the risks of health problems go down, why are you objecting to it?

p.s.

Who's going to pay for this?

"What else should be added to the water supply to control people's behaviors?"

Hence the illusion of "free will." How you eat affects you mentally and as a result, also affects your behavior.

Yeah, agreed. The water in Seattle tastes so good that I don't bother buying bottled water. It's mineral water from the watershed fed off the mountain snow. The tap water here tastes kinda nasty so we buy bottled water instead.

Was "wondering about ur own behavior".....:giggle:

How many studies? What R-squared level were the effects measured to be? Is it repeatable and significant?

Nobody said they were scared. But many people likely think it's entirely unnecessary. You don't have to be scared of something to find it unnecessary and not useful.

Don't project. Nobody mentioned that anywhere.

If studies show the benefits of adding lithium to water and the risks of health problems go down, why are you objecting to it?

Because that's a drastic action, and the data provided doesn't support such an extreme measure. Minuscule effects requiring large, intensive processes don't require fear or other irrational thought processes to object to.

Maybe Brigadier General Jack D. Ripper was right about our precious bodily fluids. :eek3:

1. Not enough studies but definitely interesting and should be repeated. We should do it with a few communities across the nation and see if it makes any difference. If it means saving lives and reducing medical costs associated with mental illnesses, we should do it.

2. Oh yes, they buy bottled water and commercials proclaim how pure their water is! Pure water is a big no no! Google "pure water" and you'll see a lot of promotions of "pure water" which is silly.

3. You think it's a drastic action to add trace amount of lithium? Adding fluoride cut down caries dramatically. No one was harmed by having it in water.

I do not see any effect people of overpopulation. this world is already overcrowded means? they are fine. they did not kill each other.

That's very, very debatable. Just google "flouride" and you will see thousands upon thousands of sites on the subject. I have friends in the medical field who told me of the harm it causes. (Just don't demand to know what harm, since you will need to find it yourself.)
