About Time! VA Bill Sets Fine for Low-Riding Pants

Jazzy, more and more high schools are starting to enforce uniform rule here. In fact, there is a school for the deaf that is thinking about doing uniforms because most fights start over clothes, jewelry, etc.

My daughters are not allowed to wear anything except dresses that pass their knees nor can they wear makeup, jewelry etc. at their catholic school.

The two men who are pushing for this are two black Democrats. So I do not see any bigotry in this anyway.

Schools and lawmakers are different. My sons went thru this already at school for last 8 years with dress code. I understand why the schools had to do it but it is not same as for lawmakers who fine people for the way we wear, I disagree with it. We do not need another police on this one since the real criminals are out there that need to be take care.

For instance, son got a ticketed for carrying marker pens which it is against law for anyone under 21 years old in CA to carry in public and it costed me 300 dollars to pay fine. I do not appreciate our government to rip parents off because they decided who should be punish and not to be punish. And made my son miss school and to go to court for this stupid law they put on us.

We do not need more control from politicals who want more $$$$$$$$ from us.

We need $$ for ourselves esp cost of living nowdays are so high and other things instead of pay lawmakers to live on high.

Ive always loathed these low riding pants. Hope other states will follow as well. While I realize it is a fad, it is no fun seeing butts in public places, especially when I am trying to eat in a resturant. :squint:

Va. Bill Sets Fine for Low-Riding Pants

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Virginians who wear their pants so low their underwear shows may want to think about investing in a stronger belt.

The state's House of Delegates passed a bill Tuesday authorizing a $50 fine for anyone who displays his or her underpants in a ``lewd or indecent manner.''

Del. Lionell Spruill Sr., a Democrat who opposed the bill, had pleaded with his colleagues to remember their own youthful fashion follies.

During an extended monologue Monday, he talked about how they dressed or wore their hair in their teens. On Tuesday, he said the measure was an unconstitutional attack on young blacks that would force parents to take off work to accompany their children to court just for making a fashion statement.

``This is a foolish bill, Mr. Speaker, because it will hurt so many,'' Spruill said before the measure was approved 60-34. It now goes to the state Senate.

The bill's sponsor, Del. Algie T. Howell, has said constituents were offended by the exposed underwear. He did not speak on the floor Tuesday.

Spruill and Howell, also a Democrat, are both black.

And now the underpants companies will go out of business because GUYS will stop wearing under pants...THANKS For Putting this up..Now when i drive though virgina im taking my underwear off and wear nothing when i put my shorts on.

Actually, I believe the bill is silly to begin with. Underwear is a cloth, not a bare ass.

They can ban the bikinis from the beach because it is more exposing than the low-riding pants. I would NEVER wear a low-riding pant and I don't like the style either. I think it's in poor taste, but to fine somebody for it?

That's like being a fashion cop.

i love low rider long as i keep judgement myself and common sense... i dont show my butt or string to anyone.... i know i have seen alot of girls or ladies alike that geez i aint alike them .

well I do agree with that bill. Evenually YES I think it ricilicious to see people wear pants too low....Even it may help keep perverts away such as molesters etc...

I think that it's sorta a good idea. I do see people wearing their pants so low that their boxers show. I've seen some who have them even lower that they walk around with their crack showing.

I been in Richmond, VA in past. Richmond is Full of Black Community. I dunno that Black people would like that idea about Bill and Fined for $50 dollar. They will spit on the Bill for sure and want to feel their choice to wear Clothes as Style. I noticed that Black guys always have low rider pant with Boxer. It is not too bad to look nasty. But now White guys do same thing. It is not bother me to see that if they know how to cover their naked butt or put long shirt covered behind. I am used to see many time.

i feel this bill is somewhat against black cultures.. since many blacks use their pants down showing their boxers..

lemme say this again

GIVE ME LIBERTY or GIVE ME FINE!

It doesn't bother me when girls wear low rider but the only problem I am having is those who wear nothing underneath it and you can see the top of their butt line, and that's gross!!..

It the same thing with thong blinkies that show most of your butt, that I don't like either, I see them wearing that on the beach, and now I don't take my kids to those type of beach anymore....I remmy my little one said " Mommy, why is that girl's swimming suit has a big hole in the back? "... :-o

I am not convinced of the wisdom of having this law on the books. I can't stand those pants, either. But to pass a law almost smacks of the government doing the parenting for us. After all, I believe personal responsibility begins in the home and squarely on the shoulders of the parents.

Direct Tv is so expensive...I dropped Direct Tv and got the DISH NETWORK and i stopped feeding the PIG!
