bbbbzzzzzzzzoooooom! those last few posts just went over my head. :dizzy: How does one (like myself) even know where to start in learning stuff about programs or computers????

In my case, my father used to teach computer classes while I was in high school and I learned from him, on the old dinosaur computers. No CD drives or DVD drives. They used floppy disks that were 5.25 inch and 12 inch or a cassette tape at times. The monitors were mostly green and you could get amber after a while. Programs would get typed in through Basic and you got them in magazines like PC Computing. That's where I got the first edition of the Flight Simulator. Dad taught for Radio Shack and we had the TRS-80 Model I, II, III and a Tandy Color Computer. Serial numbers 4,2,8 & 3. (in order of the models) Internet was the internet, but, we had a BBS system. My father had his own BBS for writers and photographers at the time.

Would it be easier for me to decide everything I want to accomplish/be able to do with a computer and then seek advice from an expert??? I just want to 'upgrade' to new laptop, new software- stuff like that soon, but I don't want some retailer to fill me full of BS about everything "I need" when I don't know if they are full of BS trying to make money???

You can usually find trials online for MS stuff that will expire in 30 or 60 days. Can download it and try it to see if you like it or not before buying. But those trial software downloads have some features locked and you cant use them unless you buy the thing or supply the authenticity code.

yeah- I have a tough time with patience to 'trial' stuffs I don't even know what it does or how it can help me. When the time comes, I think I'll just PM a few of our computer guru AD members for some guidence. thanks ncff07

Any difference between 2007 to 2010?

If we had 2007, then YES. I dont remember what we had before. I will ask on Tuesday when I return to work.

haha, I am so happy I don't need extensive computer skills for work. As long as we understand fully the facilities documentation program and protocols thats all I care. In past years I have done some private contracts at various and even rural hospitals and thats always the toughest part, learning their computer documentation programs.

I grew to really hate those as a child. That's what the audiologist always used during my hearing tests as a small child. "hear a sound? push in a peg and we'll see you picture when we are done."
