yeah PFH, I sure hope you luck out and don't get an infection in your foot. Infections love to thrive on feet and don't need much help with adding non sterile objects inside. If that gets infected you'll sure wish you'd gone to the clinic and had the wound cleaned and the foreign body removed with appropriate irrigation. Try to keep that sucker super clean, put an antibiotic ointment and clean bandages on it.

Once years ago, I broke a lemon juice bottle on the kitchen floor. I thought I had cleaned it up perfectly. But I walked a lot in those days and I kept feeling this persistent pain in the ball of my right foot.

Eventually it worked its way back to the surface. It was exceedingly painful.

Just thought I would share.

When I was 12, half of the garage door had broken off during the winter.When the spring came I went one day to get my bike from the garage and stepped onto a nail that was left over. It went completely through my Keds. All you could see was a small puncture hole.

For months after ward the ball of my right foot was KILLING me. I really thought nothing of it cause the nail had gotten pretty deep. I looked at my foot and it looked like a had a big zit where the puncture was. Me being the sadist I am I thought "If I popped this thing my pain would be over." Not "This doesn't look right, get me to the doctor."

So I am working on it and bawling cause it hurt so much. And finally the zit pops, but what came out wasn't what I was expecting. Part of the sole of my Keds came out! Surprisingly I didn't get an a bad infection, and all I have is a small scar.

You are also really lucky you did not get tetanus.
 
The debate goes on too long - I am going to bed and hopefully the "nut" will have stopped for a while, but I realize that is just wishful thing on my part as well as quite a few others.
