If you locked yourself out of the apartment you could have just posted here. I could have told you how to get into your apartment instantly.

But glad you got the pass.

Its a condo, there was no way to get in. The doors and windows locked. There was no way, I am going to break glass sliding door as my last resort.

ok
not a last resort.. do you have any useless plastic cards???

a card like a food store card? any old hotel card?

or if the sliding door is old enough and you did not lock it the way it is supposed to lock. try lifting the handle on the sliding door.... basically lift the door

sometimes that unlocks some sliding doors.

Just for kicks!

Hubby and I were so into .gifs when we were dating each other at the time.

Need a new frying pan and a few pots.

Trying to move away from non-stick... so ... cast iron, stainless steel, blue steel or carbon steel? O.o

If you plan to buy stainless then need to buy GOOD one. I bought the simple stainless and it often burns up and left the black marks on the pan. :mad2: I love nonstick but it has chemical that peels off then peel thingy into food. :mad2: i cant win both! Just buy the good one stainless is that's all I say. lol

I have one non-stick pan, a bunch of cast iron and then MIL has stainless steel.

I love my cast iron, but it is so heavy.

Geez, I want a gif now (folds arms) (stomps foot)

Feeling so left out o_O

why? :giggle: You can if you have a webcam then do it. BUT I believe you do not have a program for converting it from webcam to gif? I lost the dvd somewhere in the house. It takes so much of memory in computer and makes my computer slow forever. :(

I'll be getting a web cam soon (shrieks with glee) so I'll be preying on several ADers in no time!!

Can I make animated pictures of individual snapshots? Yeah I know, I'm a clueless buffoon :(

Part of the problem with non-stick is that... they're toxic to birds. O_O

The other problem is that no one can agree on which is better. Like my mom really like her stainless steel, while a chef I know uses carbon steel... and another one uses cast iron. Oi...

Stainless steel hands down. High quality ones.

First: Teflon is also hazardous to YOU. They give you serious brain cell damage if you eat it.

Second: Carbon Steel is prone to rust. Have to take care of it. Very high maintenance. Seeing how you're in "recovery," i wouldn't even recommend you to have these pans laying around. You'd probably leave water in it and fk the thing up.

Third: Cast iron is nice. Again, prone to rust, and leaves that odd flavor in your food, if you don't mind it all the times go for it.

How to break in a Stainless Steel pan, the gooder ones...
Pour some oil into it. warm up the pan, not too hot where the oil burns. Just enough to open up the pores for the pan to absorb the oil..
make sure you coat the entire inside of the pan.

This will make your pan very easy to clean in the future. Thank me later.

Thanks. ;) You convinced me.

The Teflon thing is more because I don't want to be responsible for the deaths of roommmate's two parrots, rather than personal reason-- although I knew about it for awhile. Just that the recent events pushed me to switch over.

But yeah... need to replace my frying pan, and two pots, which are Telfon. :S I do like my earthenware pots and dutch ovens at home, and the big cast-iron "hang over the fire" pot-type for camping.

Stainless steel... here I come. :p

we have all kinds. We have tried all kinds. Bottom line - stainless steel wins. and cast iron.

Like what others said - spend it on HIGH QUALITY stainless steel. Cast Iron - you gotta take care of it. You must clean it after you're done eating and you must grease it. We grease it with cheap olive oil.

About stainless steel - since it's quite different from other cheap cooking pans, you will have bunch of trials and errors when cooking so expect to ruin your food during your first several tries. It is especially tricky to cook egg on it but end result - a fucking good egg :)

stainless steel -- If it's thin, it will cook too fast and ruin your food. I have to deal with that all the time. No matter how low I heat my milk, it will still scorch on the botton of the pan.
