I have a question to all.

Ppl who own a DELL laptop, what kind of webcam is the best working for it? I have a DELL Inspiron 1000 laptop and I have been looking for a webcam. I recently bought a webcam and I set it up on it. Guess what? IT FROZE UP! So I had to take it back and get my money back because I couldnt find any other web cams for it.

So what kind of webcam is the best working for it? Pls let me know. I appreciate it alots. Thanks!

Okay. Thanks.

I know one thing that I bought. It is called "Creative Notebook Webcam". It was nice but I dont know why it froze up on my laptop. GRRR!

I hate to said that. Inter Celeron Processor is not great for that.

I have Logitech QuickCam for Notebooks Deluxe. It's work very great and very smooth for my laptop.

BUT u need clean up your laptop first. Sounds like u have eat lot RAM for start-up programs then u add program for webcam then lock-up.

i agree with neo's suggestion... 512mb ram is better for your laptop that can be running smoothly. personally i have my old laptop 700mhz P3 with 382 mb ram and i have logitech notebook quickpro. it works super...

do you know how many MB ram does your laptop have ?

I have 512mb and 2GzH, something like that.

ok probably your laptop may have too much icons activited like these icons on below right corner. try to close those unnecessary activited icons down to maybe 3 icons so your RAM wud have more fresh storages on RAM. then test webcam to see if ur webcam streams smoothly.

I dont have the webcam. But if I do, I will remember that one. :ty:

Also don't forget that lot of programs on the task bar uses up lots of resources, I heard that does slow down the computer pretty good.

Two things u need to check.

How much RAM u use on Usage history?

How many icons near clock at below right corner you have like deafclimber said.

neo dude, that desktop image is a perfect example ! desktop manager is very helpful

Just about any webcam will work with a Dell. I'm using a Logitch Quickcam Pro 3000 on a Dell Inspiron 8200.

Thanks guys. I am having a hard time deciding on whether on getting a webcam or VP. ugh!!! Thanks for your help. :)

Not only the RAM thing (using more programs open eating it up) ..

But also to check your video card and its memory. It may be the real cause since you dude has 512 mb RAM on your laptop .. it's good enough for the webcam.

It's better to have the independent video card at least 64mb (not sharing 64mb video memory) .. at least 128 mb video card memory (no sharing) is better.

video card memory doesnt matter. for instance my old laptop has 16mbs. the webcam is running smoothly on this laptop... i use webcam on this laptop frequently for videorelaying and webchatting...
