A Prius with stuck accelerator glides to safety

I think every auto brand has faced some kind of a recall notice. But lately people have been jumping on the Toyota bandwagon in the effort to try and somehow demonize that company. It isn't any wonder that Obama is getting into all this protectionism agenda, and Toyota seems to be one of their opportunistic targets.

From the Washington Post:

Guess who wrote that piece?

With Congress nowadays, it isn't just a coincidence about the whole Toyota thing.

A company that puts unsafe vehicles on the road and risked the lives of innocent people has already demonized themself. No one needs to do it for them.

It isn't just about a recall. It is about a defect that risks lives. Quite different than a rear view mirror than comes off the windshield in the hot sun.

Car manufacturers represent their vehicles as safe. They are obligated to insure that is so.

No matter how hard you try to justify it, minimize it, or misdirect it, it's wrong and unethical. The all mighty dollar taking precedence over human life; that's what this situation is all about.

I think the MSM is trying to make Toyota vehicles the next evil "SUV" when on the news or radio you hear these horror stories about SUVs in accidents to somehow, subliminally, get people to think that all SUVs are bad to have so people won't buy them. Now, it's the Toyotas. Interesting timing when both GM and Chrysler companies are tanking and doing a bad job at sales, both owned by Obama administration, er, the govt. Won't work. People will just buy more Ford cars and trucks instead which made billions of dollars in profit last year, in the black.

Wow...another incident that is Obama's fault. The poor guy is to be blamed for everything wrong with this country...wow!

Obama-spiracy.

Man, I don't like the guy, but I don't look for missing links.

Remember when National Geographic got their hands slapped for publishing an article on the "missing link" in human evolution in the 90s?

Please stop talking about Obama this and that. This is not about political stuff, this is about what happened between him and Toyota Motor company.

Thanks

I didn't have time to eat my lunch today until 3:00 p.m. and it made me grouchy because my blood sugar dropped. Obama's fault.

Oh, yeah! I remmy that.

Not about faultings. I made that pretty clear. Read carefully.

Oh, even Toyota feels the same that Washington isn't being "Toyota friendly" on purpose.
Toyota: Democrats 'not industry friendly' - Jake Sherman - POLITICO.com

Even USAToday questions all this pushback by Congress.

Not surprised. They want the American automakers to come back... I doubt it's directly Obama, but all of the big wigs of Detroit and Obama because the US does indeed own some of the auto industry. So if the American auto industry goes under, our "investment" does too.

Also, Other reason is that perhaps this is an opportunity, however for a lack of better term, "exploiting" the issue at hand here - Shut down Japan, and get our workers back in the force, make Obama look good?

(I didn't read the article, but if I was the president right now, I'd do that.)

That's means affecting and potentially laying off tens of thousands of workers at those Toyota factories in the *U.S.* just to improve the odds of keeping GM and Chrysler companies running. They (SIEU, too) must think it's nice to the have Obama administration on their side.

wow... didnt think of that...

Official investigation of runaway Prius begins to answer questions
....Also, Jalopnik.com reported last week that Sikes is some $700,000 in debt as well as behind on lease payments for the Prius in question. Puzzling behavior and circumstantial evidence aside, this investigation appears to offer the first hard evidence that what happened on Interstate 8 last week may not have been Toyota's fault.

:hmm:

And the unraveling begins....(not for Toyota, that is).

indeed indeed! I just did some digging and I am not surprised at what I found. It is becoming more and more apparent that somebody's putting a wool over eyes about somebody's taking advantage of government's bailout money not for intended purpose.

the UAW..... ssshhhhhh.....

maybe. maybe not.

let's see...
1. Report: Saab pondering tech partnership with Germans, picks GMAC as official financer
2. Anthony Lo, Saab Aero X and Opel Flexstreme designer, leaves GM for Renault
3. Only in California: UAW reportedly fighting to save Toyota plant

:hmm:

That's what I was referring to.

No it doesn't matter....it's just a small :hmm:

But there are a growing number of :hmm:s in this case.

Noted by finance companies as a shady businessman....:hmm:
Bankruptcy:hmm:
$700,000 in debt....:hmm:
5 payments behind on this car....Big :hmm:
The problem he claims is not the problem others have....:hmm:
Car had already been taken in to the dealership....:hmm:
He didn't shift to N....:hmm:
Shady police report in the past....:hmm:

Now add to the fact that the owner is represented by the same Atty as a CHP officer's family who is suing Toyota. And that CHP is refusing to investigate the Prius crash.

Something really stinks.
