I believe it should be mandatory for people to go to school for gun markmanship ( at a gun range ).....if they are asking for a gun permit, no matter the age.

Even tho' some people "cheer" the old granny on....she could have actually shot an innocent bystander(s) in the Walmart parking lot....

A taser or pepper spray would have been effective too....and I would opt for that....

we still should have right to own guns. people are retard for saying this "guns kill people" wrong! lol this is "people kills people" duh! if gun kills people, that's means gun is alive? lol no!

but kinda hard to do because more than likely will have to get in range of a swinging cane.

With a gun you can stand at a distance.

"What if" the guy was hopped up on meth? No pepper spray or mace will stop a robber who is hopped up on meth.

A .45, on the other hand, will.

Oh really?....Too bad you were not in that parking lot while she was shooting "wildly" and still missing the target....and you didn't get hit!...Could have been a small child running by and got hit!....She (the granny) had no markmanship training!....Dunno if she was even wearing her glasses, since she missed the man right in front of her!

A stun gun/pepper spray would have been best for her (no training with guns). And even if that didn't stop the mugger, Walmart was full of customers and some did run to her aid.....Then again, if I were that Lady, (at her age), I would have given up my purse, rather than being beat to death.
 
Pepper spray are ineffective at close range, pepper spray will only serve to aggravate the aggressor even more.

As for stun guns, do they still make them? I have not seen them being advertised these days.

Yeah...and a .45 will stop a lot of innocent people in that parking lot too! 5 Shots and they all missed! And he was right in front of her! So she had to be "shooting wildly"...So...."what if" she shot an innocent person? Who was coming to her aid?

Forget the "what if's"! She had no training for a gun, she was "no match" for the robber/mugger at her age! In this situation, giving up the purse would have been best....and let the people who came to her aid overpower the mugger in order for her to stay alive.....NO amount of $$ in your purse is worth getting killed over....
 
As "if" anyone comes to their aid. Most people are too scared to help anyone and most people like to watch a victim getting mugged for entertainment value.

Another reason people don't help these days is because people are afraid of lawsuits.

At first I thought the thread title said "deafens herself" and I was thinking WTF? :giggle:

It's really hard to say what we would do. We say we would have done this or that but none of us can know what we really would have done in that same exact situation unless we were in it.

I'm glad she defended herself and also glad she didn't unintentionally kill/injure anyone with those 5 shots.
 
Unfortunately with crimes going on in this day and age is due by and large to drug addiction. People who are addicted to drugs will commit crimes to get more drugs. Drug dealers don't care where the money comes from as long it fills their pocket.

This war on drugs is costing the lives of innocent people. So I suggest the following ways to eliminate this problem and save lives at the same time.

Legalize all drugs and tax them in the same manner as cigarettes and alcohol. Hey if people wanna slowly kill themselves doing cigs and alcohol, they should the same with the drugs. In fact, they're all drugs anyway. So let's tax all the idiots with all they're worth before they make a trip to six feet under.

This way, legalizing all drugs will put the drug dealers out of business and place the drugs under a controlled environment and crime will dramatically be reduced.

Yes, they teach people to cooperate with criminals in "sheep" school. Baaa ...Baaaaa.


In this situation, the thief told her she was going to die and then started beating her. He probably wanted her dead so she couldn't identify him in a lineup.

The best thing that could have happened in this situation is what the woman did already. Actually, she needs practice in aiming as I wish we really did not have to pay to feed, clothe and shelter yet another criminal.

Anyways ... good luck on trying to change my mind about it. These 82 y.o.'s lived in times where people were actually taught to be self-sufficient and rely on themselves. They do not have the sheeple mentality that has taken over today.

Did they ever catch the guy that committed this crime?
