8 year old shoots and kills 90 year old caregiver

It's possible to find a report on almost anything to support a desired viewpoint.
 
It's easy to blame the video game for this (isn't GTA 4 an age-restricted release anyway??), but the child had easy access to a loaded firearm which is probably even worse.
Either way it's a horrific event.
 
So, the kid either got the gun or the game, or both from the elderly victim? :dizzy:
 
It does not say who's mobile home it happened in, but if it was in the 90 year old's home, she would be to blame for not having a gun locked up.

If she was in the 8 year old's home, his parents are to blame and should be up for charges. But still, nothing in the story yet.
 
Im going to be getting hunting gear soon. Havent had guns in a few years and haven't really had any around the kids, so a gun safe is in the future where my bows along with the guns will be locked up.
Its scary to think of one being accessable to a kid.
 
When our first child was born, we gave all our guns to my father in law, which he kept in a gun safe, but there was no way our kids were getting hold of a gun.
 
But I admit they had lots of video games. They haven't killed anybody yet.
 
Omg... 8?!? Jesus man... what happened to gun education in elementry school? I has the D.A.R.E. program in elementry school to warn about drugs and not to touch weapons! Just me? Good god! So sad...

With all the mass shootings that been committed by young men , I could care less about protecting the boy's identity. The public has the right to know who this kid is , how about thinking about the safety of the kids in school . Is this kid going to be getting any kind of counseling before be allowed to go to school? I can see if the boy was the victim and protecting his identity but I disagree with this in this case.
 
I have left shotgun and rifle in plain view, testing my boys to see if they would fool around with it. One thing for sure, they aren't loaded as I had to confirm periodically. Ammo is separate and hidden. So far, none of my boys dare to touch it. My oldest son know not to mess with it. He's 12 yrs old. My youngest is 3, still didn't bother touching them. When both of my boys comes back home, will have to unload and hide them.

I'm not sure if their parents or grandparents teach their boys not to mess up with guns in any way. I taught my oldest son never mess with them unless somebody threats to hurt or kill him, go ahead. So far my oldest son passed my test.

Once my youngest son understand clearly not to mess with it. Will start to keep it loaded and ready to cock upon any threats.

Sad, nowadays, it is all NO NO NO NO NO NO constantly without any education on value of personal protection. Sad!
 
I would care, why? We are having gang issues in the United States and if we release the name to public, one of these gangster could pull this 8 years old into joining gangster, and this add on the top of the problem. You see, those who are in gang, selling dope, etc they do not care how young they are but they care how easy to get them and get them to do whatever they want them to do. Its happening too often, more than you'd realize.

I did not open your link . I google stories to read it when people post something. I still disagree with you . There has been too many shooting happening in schools today and the public should have the right to know if their child is sitting next a to a boy that just killed a 90 yo person! If the boy
is a victim of being bullied in school what is going to stop him from bring a gun to school and killed innocents kids. Patents get send notices if ones of their child classmate has head lice , but parents can't know if one their child classmate killed someone?? This just doe not add up me.

There are plenty of black market owners out there looking for kids like this one to join in their outlaw member list. This is very dangerous, and not many are aware of this happening! And you don't care? Sad!

The real reason for these black market crooks using kids is to shield themselves from the law and kids becomes victim as "Fall guys", this is exact whats happening right now.

Give you an idea, if I am a drug lord in that area. I would much likely going to look for kids who are published as troublemaker, perfect target because I know they aren't cop, so get him for me. Once I get him, I give him $10,000 to deliver $100,000 worth of Meth for me. If cop catches him, I walk, and this poor kid got caught up and gone jail because he has the criminal record on him and no one believers him that he was hired by me to commit crimes. Do you agree that it is okay? I don't think so!
