$700 Billion Bailout Voted Down

Bailout - NY Times

Vote was reject: 228-205.

Dow - AP

The Dow also went down over 777 points, the most it ever went down in one day.

I do applaud to reject decision. There cycle and we need to go through the mistakes. We do not need to clean up another people's mistakes. Let them fall for now.

I am rather surprised to see a lot mega banks are now buying out other banks.

Bank of America buying Merril Lynch
Citicorp buying Wachovia.
Jp Morgan buying WAMU

But wonder why nobody spliting up AIG? Perhaps that what will happen next. Split up AIG and sell asset to another banks. I would say those three banks I mentioned will buy remaining asset of AIG.

I am glad that they shot down that bill. I disagreed with the idea of bailing out banks. Remember few years ago, banks wants sweeping bankruptcy laws so that average people won't get away. Now that they are asking us for bail out so that they can get away? This is not right.

Secondly, bank got careless with mortgage by tricking millions of innocent customer into unfavorable subprime mortgage including poisonious Interest only mortgage (Pick your payment), and ARM, these kinds of loans are very dangerous and they took the risk, now stuck with too many borrower not able to pay back because of this, should we help banks cover up their mistake and kick these innocent mortgage holder out of their homes(Foreclosure)? I don't think so!

Banks made too many mistakes, they are the one who is responsible for these messes, I hail those who voted down on bail out!

Even though this may lead to Great Depression II, and to my surprise the history actually repeats! Today is much like back in October 1928 where banks got careless and lend too much money to greedy stock brokers who thinks they could profit by invest stocks, BIG BIG BIG mistakes for banks, which resulting the great depression. Now Banks are making the same mistakes but with mortgage brokers!

Again funny thing is that back then FDR whose beat Hoover, do you have any idea whats difference between FDR and any other candidates? It is disability, FDR is the only US presidents with disability, just think this way, Obama is also different than the rest of candidates, he may be the first black president, and I could easily predict huge changes in government if ever Obama gets elected, then history is going to repeat!

History can be interesting if carefully studied them.

Finally, let Banks go south and learn their lesson not to trust any greedy brokers.

Interesting insight. Thanks for sharing.

Thomas Jefferson once said, " We should revolutionary every 20 years." (not exact words).

What he trying to say, start over every 20 years to keep things straight.

First I am wonder why?? .. then My friend explain to me .. Now I undy and agree to voted down :)

Good article to read. Bankruptcy is best way. File Chapter 13 bankruptcy and sell off asset to other banks. Spread out the loss.

Being a business owner, you have bills that need to be paid. You bill a consumer, expecting bills to be paid.

Bankruptcy? Bills ain't gonna be paid. The problem? The employees ain't gonna be paid.

Trickle Down Economy.

Well actually same problem exist when the government takes the tab , its only delayed. Government budget is not surplussing either, so you are forcing government to get more in debt when you let it pay the bill. Who is going to pay the governments debt later on?

The children . . . that's the Bush/Republican way. Ring up trillions in debt and expect future generations to pay for it.

If history proves to be factual (which, obviously, you don't believe it to be), Obama, being the first black/African-American president, would not be the one to turn White House politics upside-down. He'd be the precursor . . . not the epitome nor time to notice.

Proof that racism is still alive and well in this country.:roll:

BBC NEWS | Americas | US senators to vote on bail-out
Mr Bush said at the White House: "We are in an urgent situation and the consequences will grow worse each day if we do not act."

The economy was depending on "decisive action on the part of our government", he added.

He said he wanted to "assure our citizens and citizens around the world that this is not the end of the legislative process".

"Our country is not facing a choice between government action and the smooth functioning of the free market," he said.

"We're facing a choice between action and the real prospect of economic hardship for millions of Americans," he warned.

The stock market displayed gains today. What is this President speaking of? Do we want four more years of this idiocracy?

OMG, do you mean that we are supposed to actually pay attention to what Bush has to say? Oops, my bad!:giggle:

Yes, that's right. Both McCain and Obama support Bush's bailout to save the economy.

Cons/Pros on both sides...

It means that the world economy would go worst if US reject to support bailout to save US economy ???
