2008-09 N.H.L. season

Folks.. ya better be ready to watch on January 1, 2009.. why?? the Wireley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs, will have a ice rink there and will host the Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks in the 2009 Winter Classic... the game will be televised on NBC, CBC... dont miss the biggest event there!!! I intend on watching that game on CBC and tape as well!! WOOO.. btw Detroit and Chicago will wear throwback jerseys....

Yeah! How about snowing game of Pittsburgh vs Buffalo last year. :)

Wings vs Blackhawks game on NBC @ 1PM Eastern.

Yeah Max... your Bruins are tops in the NHL standings... can the Bruins maintain their good play and head into the playoffs in a high gear still?? That remains to be seen and hopefully everything will fall into place... there are some surprises, such as the surging San Jose Sharks as well as the Chicago Blackhawks which are finally playing great after all these lean years so far.... impressive starts and more....

Yeah. I will find out how far Bruins stays good up to the playoff time. Blackhawks should be glad to see fans came back as leads NHl's attendence now. I would love to see Bruins vs 'Hawks for their long waited to bring The Cup home.

San Jose is completely owning the league so far.

I find it interesting to see a trend of trying to get outdoor games organized and scheduled. Allthough to fans and even prospective NHL fans where the entertainment level of an outdoors game is good, I often worry about the league opening themselves up to a situation where outside temperatures will possibly create potential catastrophic safety issues on the surface of that ice.

Agreed, so far San Jose running up on the league... but will see how the Sharks fare in the months to come, especially in the playoffs...

As for the outdoor games, yeah there are factors at play.. especially something dangerous as a massive blizzard or so.. or the ice melting badly.. and more.. but that is for 1 game a year to do so... not too many at the same time so it would be best for that somehow..... I did enjoy the 2003 Heritage game (Montreal vs Edmonton) and the 2008 Winter Classic (Pittsburgh vs Buffalo) on tv so it was great to see that.. hope the NHL will be wise to do this and make everything all right.... I cant wait for the Detroit vs Chicago game at Wrigley Field!!! ON TV to boot.. NBC and CBC as well.. hehe...

HAHA Restless.. I gonna root for the Chicago Blackhawks.. why?? the Blackhawks got a player from Winnipeg who happens to be the team captain, Jonathan Toews... should be a fun game to see on tv!!!

I will root for Blackhawks :P Sharky bring out your Red wings jersey :laugh2: You root for them for Stanley Cup last year not the Penguins :P

Woooooooo. Bruins are NHL's best team today...I didn't expect them to be top team this moment. :)

Me, too... Whoo-hoo... BUT I have a feeling that Blackhawks is gonna beating Bruins for the playoff because they are very good players. Wait and see... I am rooting for Bruins, anyway. Go Bruins!!! :D

Only Sharks owns their confernce, not own NHL at all. Bruins led goals and GAA over Sharks this tonite. :) Nah, I don't worry about Sharks right away...just wonder who would beat Bruins - Eastern Confernce team(s).

I think NHL will handle the outdoors well as same as NFL's doing for years. Leave up to drunk shirtless fans. :D

Alright... now that the 2008-09 NHL Season is at a break before the All Star Game to be held in Montreal (ya can see the game on Versus in the US and CBC in Canada) that will be at 6 pm est.. but ya do have a chance to see the NHL All Star Competition at 7 pm est on both VS and CBC.. should be fun to see the All-Stars do events and etc...

Hey Sharky, U see the Red Wings/ Coyotes game- fan throws a dead octopus onto the ice :laugh2:

I wonder if the expeditor at the doors felt that slimy octopus in pregame search ? :giggle:

LOL Doug.. I wonder on that as well.... tomorrow the All Star Competition will be on and there might be some All Star players missing due to injury or so... but ought to be interesting to see who the replacements and etc are.... plus Sunday the All Star Game from Montreal will be a good to watch... and if there are any AHL fans, there is an AHL All Star game from Worchester, Mass as well on Monday January 26th... that will be televised on some US channels as well here in Canada on TSN.. I do have a couple players from my Manitoba Moose playing in that game .. wooo gonna watch the games...

I read that, Knightsgoalie.. yeah the NHL had to do it to get some stars to show up for the All Star festivals and etc.. cant have too many stars skipping out.... if I was a All Star and was going to that weekend... I would have showed up to have fun..not skip due to not being interested or so....unless there a injury that needed to be healed up...
