Maybe but not always. I know one girl who is a LOT like this Canning girl. Difference is that her mother was NEVER that strict- her mother played BFF more than parent. Her father did not marry her mother (long story) but WAS involved in her life until she decided to pretty much disown him over something stupid and trivial. He is a firm parent but not strict either.

Takes all kinds to make a spoiled entitled child who may never see the 'errors of their ways'.
 
Also it does happen that kids turn out the way they do regardless of how the parents are.
It's not such a determinist mechanical world.
People are odd creatures all round. While I like the idea we could blame parents for every single thing their children do, or how their children turn out fact is, sometimes kids turn out the way they do besides what ever their parents do.
