12 second start up delay on my Naidas.

That's really bad that you weren't told how to properly turn them off, your Audi should of mentioned that as pretty standard thing. I wonder what else you haven't been told about?!

Did you get a manual with your Naida as well?

I did but it does not really go into all the different features I saw coming up on the computer screen in the audi's office. Like Whistleblock, or the T-coil and the one for wireless sound- the acoustic telephone. I got those phone ones turned up a lot and set up one on each side-- it still doesn't work out so well.
The misunderstanding came about when I asked if I could have a push button on/off as well as the battery door opening. She put in the mute on/off and I had the idea it was the on/off for hearing aids. It would not be the first time I misunderstood something.
I will be back in there tomorrow and will be on this learning some more.
The bluetooth thing is something to look at too and there again my knowledge is limited. Thank you for your helpful interest!

The acoustic telephone program is just meant to extend the frequency range to like what the phone does. I personally couldn't hear from it as well.

I don't have t coil myself as I found it really hard to hear from and t coil is becoming used less and less as technology improves and the use of streamers gets more.

I've got whistle block set to the very max as I seem to have a huge problem with feedback myself.

Bluetooth is not within the hearing aids. You have to buy a compilot which cost around $400 or so. The compilot will link to your hearing aids when you place the compilot round your neck and then the compilot has the Bluetooth in it. There is no Bluetooth within the Naidas or any hearing aids as you would be going thru batteries daily.

I'm wearing the Naida S IIIs as well.

Goodonya- Features of the Phonak Naida S III-

UltraZoom Standard- Automatically zooms in on voices in the front and reduces noise from the sides and the back. (I have this activated but I personally don't notice any different with it. Meant to help hear in noise)

SoundRecover- Enjoy a fuller spectrum of audible sounds. (This is good. I'm going tomorrow to Audi to have this feature turned off on my Naidas)

NoiseBlock Standard- Experience comfortable hearing (Even tho this is the standard noise block, I think it works quite well, if I had the higher tech noise block, I think it would take away too much. Meant to help near in noise)

SoundFlow Standard- Enjoy seamless automatic adaptation to all sound environments. (This works well on mine. If this is set properly, you shouldn't have to touch your volume control. I personally never touch my volume)

WhistleBlock- Eliminate annoying whistling. (Whistle lock doesn't eliminate whistling when you have a bad loss. I've been told my Naidas are too powerful to eliminate all feedback)

Thank you, NaidUP the mute thing had me fooled too because I get the start sound just like the regular start closing the battery door.
The SoundRecover is something you want turned off? I am interested in this I did not know it was a feature. I am hearing too much noise type sound that does not contribute to the hearing of sound I would like to focus on. I will see what happens if I get it turned off. We are going to push up on the high frequency sound tomorrow and see what that does too.
In frustration with moisture buildup behind my right ear mold I drilled the hole for the vent out bigger. In the doing I blew out a half inch of the side of the mold that is in the ear canal. I carved it and filed it till it did not bother me anymore. The audi said I had made what is called a "trough vent" and she will make my other mold be the same. I thought I had made a mistake that turned out okay and I guess it did.

I've already had sound recover turned off on my left, going to get my right turned off.

Something I've noticed since turning it off, that my left hearing aid pick's up way less noise and sounds are SO much clearer. Im actually shocked as just how much better it is for me with SR off.

I'm excited to get my right sound recover turned off.

I've got no knowledge with vents. My loss is too bad to have a vent. :)

Sound recover can be made stronger and weaker, it's not just a on and off feature. Have a play with it, see how things sound :)

This sounds good I will try it.
The extra hole in the mold does not effect the sound as long as the mold is not loose. If the hole is too large though it will. The hole makes a huge comfort difference especially since the trend has become to make the mold longer into the ear canal. I better knock out here or I will be late for my appointment I just looked out and it snowing hard out there. Thanks now have a good day!

Phonak FM outride the streamer technology tho....Safarigirl uses the Dymantic Phonak FM which is much better and it means she doesn't have to wear the streamer round her neck all the time.

I don't wear it around my neck at all, it's either on the table or in my jeans pocket, works either way :)
