My Audi changed my start up delay to 12 secs due to my tight fitting earmolds.

I don't mind having the 12 sec delay but am curious as when I turn them on, about 2 secs later they turn on/whistle but then they turn off again for 10 secs and then turn on.

Are they meant to do that short turn on/whistle or should it stay quiet for 12 secs and then turn on? I would of thought, they would of stayed turned off.

Anyone have an idea as to what is happening? I've seen my Audi 3 times this week and once again forgot to ask him, lol.

I think it should just stay off and turn on after 12 seconds.. Hmm weird..
My HAs have an 8 second delay I think? But I've been wondering if there is any way that the delay can be programmed out entirely; my old starkeys I got when I was five turned on right away and I actually preferred that

Threads and conversations like this make me really wonder about my ENT clinic....I don't have the first clue about half the stuff you guys are talking about when it comes to the technology, etc. with your HA's. Just the fact that you all seem to actually LIKE your hearing aids makes me really wonder...but then again I think it's a function of my hearing vs the aid itself but since no one else here seems to use Starkey, I really wonder.

It seems like mine start up right away, I hear the tones as soon as I place the aid in ear. Although, 12 sec is a pretty short time, it probably takes me 5 to put it in my ear. The only whistle I hear is from my mold being lose. Then again, it's not like I have hearing or anything.

I have your same aids and I had the 12 second delay up until last Friday when she turned the delay off. It is supposed to do the 5 dings, turn on, squeal, cut off, then cut back on 12 seconds later with a different 4 ding chime. Mine did that and she warned me it would.

So you can actually request to not have the delay?? I don't really like it all!

Mine just have an insanely long period when I am supposed to be inserting them...because Phonak assumes that I turn the aids on, insert the ear mold, and then wait. But I generally insert the molds then turn on the aids and don't have to deal with any annoying feedback if I am not ninja fast.

One thing that annoys me about the start up of my naiads is the annoying ba-da-ba-BA! People around me can hear it and I often get strange looks.
It also sucks when I've been listening to music via DAI and one of my classmates sees me and starts talking. I have to tell them to stop talking (but I cat hear my voice so I usually just give the "stop talking" motion), I explain that I I have to wait until my hearing aids are back to normal again and usually they wait about 3 seconds and begin talking again. But I have to repeat the "I CAN'T HEAR YOU! I'll tell you when you can talk" thing again.

my delay is like 3-5 seconds, and I was told there was no way to completely disable the delay. I've always hated it. I'm used to putting the hearing aid on my ear first, then turning it on, so when I got the Naida... no on/off switch, it's all in the battery door augh. The delay still bugs me sometimes but I've gotten used to it.

I've been told its a system check and should do it :)

Ecp The blah-blah noise which I hated can be turned off :)

What about low battery tone? I really hate it! Every time I hear low battery tone and it make me like like... I cant stand that tone and change the battery

The only tone that can't be turned off is the low battery tone. I change my batteries either before or when my first battery tone starts for the first time as only 10 minutes later it will die.

With the Naidas you can chose to have no start up delay but actually it's 3 seconds or you can choose 6 seconds or 12 seconds. No more.

Really, must be high quality batteries. I kept getting low battery tones alot like.. 7 time or more and when I heard the first beep, the battery usually die in a hour or so.

When I say it dies, it doesn't die for quite a while but how the Naidas work, is once the battery reaches a certain low level, you loose something like 5db of volume every minute until you change the battery which I hate so I just change them on the beep (I still only get one beep tho, no more) or before. Most of the time, I change them before the beep.

You should be able to turn it off. You can turn it off on Oticons, just uncheck the box marked "jingle" :)

You can turn off everything. Start-up delay (which means there's no extended delay, you still have to wait a few seconds for it to power-up), start-up dings, low battery warning, etc. I have everything turned off on mine. The low battery one being turned off was an error on my Naida, it did it on its own sometime between one appt and this last one. Audi was perplexed. I told her to just leave it off as I couldn't hear it anyway. I usually can't tell when my hearing aid dies either unless I happen to be somewhere where I'm picking up a lot of ambient background noise at the time it dies. Really I only wear my aid to hear my Mom's dog bark (so I know if my Mom or Dad comes home, or else they scare the crap out of me lol), and to plug up my ear so I can sort of hear my voice. I'm really just too deaf for hearing aids lol. Have to wait 6-12mos for my second CI, bummer lol.

According to Phonak website the low battery beeps can't be turned off.

What is the low battery indicator on the product? Can it be turned off?

The end of battery life beep cannot be turned off. Naidá end of battery life process is as follows:

Once a low voltage level is reached, an acknowledgement beep is heard and DataLogging is turned off. This beep is, in fact, 2 beeps separated by 2 seconds. The Naida is muted in between these two beeps. As the battery discharge at that state of the battery is very difficult to predict it might well be that after the first “end of battery life” warning the hearing instruments shut off rather fast. But if not so then every 30 minutes a beep will be heard, reminding the wearer to change the battery. If the battery is not changed and the battery current reaches a critical level, one more end-of-life beep is heard, all manual controls are disabled and the power-down process is started. This process involves a decrease in gain of 5 dB, every 10 seconds. After this, if the battery is not changed, the Naidá instrument will turn off.

I know you know a lot about Naidas, but you can't say that the low battery warning cannot be turned off, because MINE is turned off. When hooked up to the Audi's computer, it tells her this.

ETA: Now I see you took that from Phonak's website. Sorry. Anyway, regardless mine is turned off, so, yeah, lol.
