Of course she's behaving fine. Probably scared out of her wits. Using scare tactics such as this one means he as a parent is reacting, when he should have been proactive. Destroying property? If his wife did something he did not like and he destroyed her laptop, we say it is emotional abuse...

A side note, after reading this entire thread... Isn't the OP asking DEAF parents if they would, or would not, implant their children. And to have hearing people come on this thread specifically to invalidate the DEAF parents' answers, it is wrong.

Not important to have perfect speech? Then why bother with it? Imperfect speech makes the person look and sound dumb, at least in our society. What is "good enough?" When a child reaches his/her plateau? But a deaf person can have perfect expressive skills through manual communication...why...

I sign idiom by using both pinky fingers (almost like I am signing the letter I with both hand) and doing a quotation mark type gesture with the pinky fingers.

Same way a hearing child will mumble instead of speaking up and clearly. They mumble in ASL. lol
