Student finds his voice on the stage

Oh my apologies! Sorry, I was on hold on the phone when I opened this thread and so started to transcribe to kill time while waiting (cell phone company service tech = a long time on hold ha!). I wasn't really thinking as I was posting, mea cupla CM  .

Student finds his voice on the stage

Congratulations Joey, what an exciting time for you :-). Transcript: (Narrator Nathaniel Cary) Joey Kareda, a 19 year old senior at JL Mann High School, has a talent, he can act. What he doesn’t have is the ability to hear or speak. That didn’t stop the Travelers Rest (?) resident from...

Only if I would help with fundraising events...

You don't have to attend the events to actually help the kids (or other organizations). Send them a donation or contact them and tell them you would like to help them out in any way you can. I'm sure there are lots of ways to help out behind the scenes. Get involved - they will be grteful AND...

    How do you sign...

Oh good question Reba. I look forward to hearing the answers :-). I have used both "agree" (Surely we can come to some sort of compromise) and "concede" (Ok I will compromise and let you choose the restaurant) but compromise does not really mean either of those in full ... more like "part agree"...

    Deaf World Curling

Oh excellent Royale! The women's team got back two days ago and I was so excited for them, I forgot to find out how the men's team did. Yay for both their successes!

    Sab : Opinion

There are many native ASL users on the show (particularly 4 of the main characters - Daphne, Emmett, Melody and Travis as well as the majority of students at Carlton). The rest of the characters who sign are learning ASL slowly as the show goes on - in the show they are hearing family members...

    Dating an older woman

I have a good friend who is marrying a man, 15 years younger, this September. Don't know if I could go that young at this stage but they're very happy together so I am thrilled for her. :-)

Official AllDeaf Switched At Birth Discussion [tv show on abc family]

Regina can no longer sign so she had to talk but you couldn't hear her speak. The entire episode (apart from the very beginning and the last line) was silent except for some bits of instrumental music now and again.

    Deaf World Curling

Just had to give a shout-out to Canada's Deaf curling team for their 2nd place finish at World's in Switzerland! I am not a huge curling fan but have been following this event because a friend was on the team. I was so happy to hear her exciting news! Congratulations Canada! Home -...

What Does it Mean To Be a Good Friend?

I have always considered myself very blessed when it comes to friends. In all my years, I have never had a really bad or negative experience with anyone who has been a friend ... until recently. Now I am feeling the sting of a friend who 'has done me wrong' (for lack of a better way to put it)...

    Deaf speech therapist???

Interesting. My deaf girlfriend's kids (when they were younger) always spoke with the 'accent' around their parents and other deaf adults but not when they were with hearing people only.

    Deaf speech therapist???

I read that Dr. G-L Pinder has been deaf for the past 12 years but graduated as a speech language pathologist in 1972. I think this is a key bit of information when discussing the topic of the possibilities of a 'deaf speech therapist'.

"I just want you to be happy"

You are sleeping with your old girlfriend? Ok I can deal with that. You are sharing a fridge drawer at work with your old girlfriend? Nope, no way, that's a deal breaker! lol
