I hate it that many of the fund raising events are dancing events. I don't have anyone who wants to go with me to those events. Therefore, I guess, I am not going to help those organization. Yeah, life sucks!! Which is sad because I want to help those groups, but I am not going to go solo or as a 3rd wheel!!!

If you are looking to find someone to date, you need to go solo or as a third wheel. You can't meet new people in your living room, unless you plan on inviting strangers to your home.

Personally, since I can't hear the music I don't go to dance events anyway. I never put myself in a position were I don't feel comfortable with the environment.

You can still help those fundraisers without dancing if that is, in fact, the main goal.

Yeah he could help set up the dance hall , collect tickets etc. I am the same way, if I do not feel comfortable with the environment I do not go the the event. I did go a funding raising party for a candidate and hard a hard time to talking to people as there was too much background sound. It was my first and last time I went to a fund raising party.
 
You don't have to attend the events to actually help the kids (or other organizations). Send them a donation or contact them and tell them you would like to help them out in any way you can. I'm sure there are lots of ways to help out behind the scenes. Get involved - they will be grteful AND you will meet new people :).

In most cases Organizations will accept donations. You can still donate without attending.

I liked your idea about helping out in the assisted living places. There is no doubt at least one near you. If you have a heart for the situation and can adjust to it there will be ways to put your imagination and big heart to work there. There may be a deaf person there isolated by circumstance and minimal ASL or not. These places are very real and a whole lot of us end up in them.
There is one that you can find a helping niche in I guarantee you. There are many hardworking women in every one of these places and women coming to visit there loved ones there. I may sound a little mercenary but it is an increase of your odds to better and us unique men need odds in our favor and as you know it is your actions that do that.

Thank you for your encouragement. That is something I want to do. Help in assisted living places. Maybe I should call different assisted living places and see if they have anyone who is deaf there.
