If you were given the chance to start any career

Why database instead of web programming? Sincere question since I'm finding my own way as well.

If you were given the chance to start any career

I'm trying to break into web development/programming. Potentially $100,000 a year after 5 to 6 years, if you're very good. Take a look at this: Learn to code | Codecademy Since you're in IT, programming might be a good one to leverage into from IT. Incidentally, I've been told that AS/400...

    Question about HoH grandpapa

My dad put off getting hearing aids for a long time, and was really surprised at what he was missing when he finally got them. I suspect people who lose hearing due to age, lose it so gradually, they don't really know how "bad" it is, and how much they can "get back" if they get hearing aids...

Explosions at Boston Marathon finish line

There are very important, historical reasons why the United States is concerned with the treatment of arrested, accused, and incarcerated individuals. The crime of terrorism is especially heinous, but it is very important that the United States doesn't lose sight of one of the most important...

I think they also want him alive, so they can question him and find out if there were any other people involved in the bombing. Or if there are other bombs out there they have not found yet. And I think he should be read his Miranda rights. He is, I have to grudgingly admit, an American...

Low End Hearing Aids, eg Phonak Naida III UPs.

Friend of mine told me she only paid $1,000 for a Phonak Naida, which surprised me. I'm used to price tags of $6,000 for two hearing aids. Have prices really come down a lot for quality hearing aids, or did she buy a low or mid-grade hearing aid?

British Sign Language in the US?

You might want to contact RIT/NTID to see if they know of BSL interpreters in the area. That university trains a lot of interpreters. Other than that, I don't know what to suggest, but I don't live in NY, so I wouldn't know too much anyway. Good luck finding a BSL interpreter. I imagine that...

Fellow Students: Do You Get "Stuck" In ASL?

I'm guessing the mind does interesting things with languages. When I was studying German in high school, I would dream in German sometimes. Also would start using German words in conversation without realizing it. It was weird and interesting at the same time. Maybe something similar is...

Scientists are trying to figure out how to strip the unique parts of blood away so that "universal" blood can be made from any donor's blood. I'm not sure how much progress they have made. If they figure it out, it would dramatically increase the supply of universal blood.

Did you wear body aid while young?

I honestly don't remember... The school stopped using them and switched to TELEX. I can't find any photos of them on the web, but then I don't know what search terms to use to find them. This is the same TELEX I used in school...
