It's hard to sign everything at once, so it's quicker and easier to translate it in the shortest way possible so all the message gets across. It's difficult in lectures because they have to interpret so much information and translate it correctly. If it's in the doctor's office or something...
I'm wondering how many deafies are here on AllDeaf from Australia. I know there are about 3 others apart from myself. Please feel free to introduce yourself if you're from Australia! :)
I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this wherever it's currently established. Telstra sent me an SMS a while ago, saying that in major areas, they've established a way for SMS to convert into speech, so I could call a normal home phone using SMS... this is a really good way of...
I believe it's important what interpreters wear. I remember a teacher of the deaf talking to me about it a few years and we were discussing what kind of dress was appropriate for interpreters. I found colours that were not dark the most distracting because of their hands being blurred with the...
Well, I do know there's research going on into regenerating nerve cells, anywhere in the body. This applies to the cochlear hair cells too I suppose. I'd be glad if they could find a way to make people hearing again but only if they chose to be so.
I use a Mac all the time, although I do have a few complaints about it but nothing to do with the fact it's a Mac. I just have to upgrade it a bit more to run things I want it to run. I couldn't afford a better Mac. Apple wants people to upgrade their Macs, which is why they don't make parts...
I think the Mac Mini looks really nice, and it's so small. It's so handy having a small computer. If Macs didn't cost twice as much as a normal PC would, I'd definitely be able to afford to buy all the nice Macs. I have an iBook myself.
Hmm, I haven't used sign language very often lately, seeing I live with a hearing boyfriend. But whenever I do use sign with my deaf friends, I sign without my voice, but if there's a hearing person around, I take care to use my voice as well. It's hard because either Auslan or English gets...
Yeah that's so true, Macs ARE expensive. I'm considering getting the mini because it's the cheapest option available and the fastest Mac I can afford. It can plug into PC monitors, so it'll save me a fair bit of money.
Is it only when you wear the hearing aids? I had a problem a while ago with dizziness and headaches, similiar to an ear infection, but it turned out that the high pitched sounds were turned up too high so although I couldn't hear it, my hearing aid picked up on it, and caused all those problems.
Hmm let's see... my favourites are Ah! My Goddess and Please Teacher and I enjoyed Love Hina, Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi, Street Fighter Alpha, and I'm currently watching Initial D which is very good despite the fact it's about cars... really, it is a good anime.
I agree... however, they need a potential market to caption TV and movies, because it's expensive and takes up a lot of time. They need to be sure Deaf people will see/buy/rent it.
Lemme see... Frank Herbert - Dune, Garth Nix - Sabriel, plenty of other authors too.. but my favourite books are Dune, Sabriel, Shade's Children, and so many others.
Ask your friends to join? Even if they aren't interested, the more members, the more attention your group gets. Try posting as often as you can, that's how MSN Groups rate the activity level. The higher, the activity level, the more likely people will be able to find it. Change the subject to a...
You could create your own website for forming this Anime Club. I'm a huge fan, I'd definitely join it. :) I have a few anime DVDs and figurines and things like that. Could make a club for all things anime like the DVDs, figures, the shows, the characters and stuff like that.
