Sounds very familiar..... my daughter says she's glad I am deaf because if her hearing gets worse she knows she can still be happy. Only one other kid at her school is not hearing and he's 2 grades ahead so.....

Seems to me it depends on who you ask, my local Deaf community is very nice and welcoming, larger groups seem to try to push me away, and hearing tell me Deaf is deaf. I am puzzling that out as well. Some here seem welcoming other seem to shun..... Glad I am not alone in this situation

I am under the impression she is mainstreamed.... if this is the case.... being singled or, not communicating well in noisy school, frustrated during teacher lectures without aides, really???? ( and I base this on my daughters complaints) Just my opinion and only my opinion....

Thank you for the kind and courteous response. She is teaching me as she learns, but we still finger spell mostly. I didn't mean I won't learn, I know some but didn't want the misconception that I am fluent. I am working the bride but thought some people aren't even aware there IS a bridge.

Does she use her softband or is it a hassle? Does she prefer it. I wish I had them as a child. My daughter trialed one and since asks how soon she can get it done. If she didn't ask I wouldn't consider it, however it is a personal decision based on preferences. Just my opinion and only my opinion
