    Do you have a TTY?

Another thing to discuss regarding TTY-- I was told that I should keep my TTY for emergency calls-- when electricity goes out, or whatever reasons.... Since TTY is based on a "landwire" and it has a back-up battery that can perform calls... (it happened to me once-- blackout in my home...

San Diego -- Population (year 2000): 1,223,400. Estimated population in July 2005: 1,255,540 (+2.6% change) But I don't live in the CITY anymore-- I am in San Diego County (40 minutes radius from the city) which populates 2,813,833 in the whole area.... I live in this certain "town" (it is...

    "Nothing to do!"??

The interpreter should keep self occupied. They are "assigned" to you for three hours, so their time is yours. It is their job. You cannot predict your job but you KNOW you will work for three hours. That should be sufficent of a reason for the interpreter to stay. I deal with same issues...

    U.S. to implement passport requirement

It costs me about 120$ to renew my passport because I am no longer a minor (my last passport was issued before I turn 16). This is my third passport. This news has been circulated for several years. People are becoming more aware. You do need a passport to enter Mexico too-- usually a...

    question...

It's about an hour from Santa Fe-- the biggest city in New Mexico. I am sure there's a good size of Deaf community there since NMSD (New Mexico School for Deaf) is located there. Albuquerque is a big city as well... just visit Santa Fe and ask who lived in Albuquerque. :-) Easy as that.

    No female holiday??

America doesn't have the best maternity leave for women. usually that only considers of a 2-weeks to a month of paid leave. So when should you start your leave-- the VERY day you are giving birth so you can attend to the newborn for just a few weeks before dropping it off to a daycare with...

    Public Display of Affection.

I think sitting on your partner's lap in public is too FAR... especially when there are plenty of chairs around!!!! I do admit that sometime I sit on my husband's lap but usually when there are not enough chairs for everybody (friends) so I usually gave my seat up for a person who doesn't...

    In Memories of AmericanChopper

Kalista-- Since I don't know you personally, but I have been accustomed to see you frequenting this forum with jokes, humorous pictures and whatnot. I do recollect AmericanChopper's short-term membership here-- he was not very frequent visitor like you, Kalista. It is difficult for me to...

    Ssi?

I received SSI when I turned 18. I know many Deaf people who got SSI since they were little kids. I don't understand why they got it since their parents were both working. FYI, SSI is pain in the ass. I am STILL on SSI even though I told them I have a job but they said that I need to make...

    Bed size

I have slept on California King bed and imo, you can fit 6 people (medium-weight, medium-height) on that bed in either format (horizontal or vertical). it is CRAZY-huge...! It can swallow up your bedroom easily if you don't have a mansion-style bedroom. I grew up on a twin bed, and now...
