Are you plan to buy Window Vista?

They don't even take responsibility for Windows releases either. Well, if they did, they'd have their butts hauled to court far more often than they already do.

Are you plan to buy Window Vista?

Andrew Tannenbaum, I presume? :giggle: OK, joking aside, Linux wouldn't be where it is today if it was designed as a microkernel. In 1984, Richard Stallman wanted to start a free operating system and call it GNU. By 1991, they had everything ready except the kernel because they decided to use...

Are you plan to buy Window Vista?

Linux is a monolithic kernel, not a microkernel-based system. However, a related system called GNU/HURD is based on the Mach microkernel.

So it's getting bad again - Please Read

It's gotten to the point where I can't post anything in certain sections without a flood of personal attacks accusing me of saying or doing something I didn't do, or just telling me to "JUST SHUT UP!". I have posted "Good luck with your CI operation" in some threads and get posts accusing me of...

The difference in technology to help the deaf children hear, then and now

Fragmenter and I have agreed to disagree. I'm not attacking him. True. It's true. Fragmenter isn't a bad guy. Fragmenter, I hope you and your son have the best of luck with your operations. Of course, because you have admitted that you don't sign or do pure lipreading. Not every deaf person...

The difference in technology to help the deaf children hear, then and now

The article in your sig fails to cite any sources (such as where they found ASL interpreters spreading lies). I haven't said ANYTHING about Fragmenter in a long time, and the last conversation I had with him privately was friendly. SO SHUT UP!!! :P (By the way, the fact that it isn't reversible...

Are you plan to buy Window Vista?

Linux is also very powerful and my distro releases a new version every 6 months--well, they were 2 months late with the current release, but they're making up for it by making the next release 4 months after the current release. :) Windows is the only operating system I don't like, and of...

The difference in technology to help the deaf children hear, then and now

Look who's talking--the article linked to in your sig is full of unfounded lies about Deaf culture and cochlear implants.

The difference in technology to help the deaf children hear, then and now

:gpost: I'm just wondering why most parents seem to think they have to make deaf children hear instead of leaving them alone. There have been many successful deaf adults out there. It seems nobody cares about it. (The book Great Deaf Americans has the stories of several of them.)

    uh.... wtf?

I don't think people should be allowed to send private messages to anyone except the Alex and the moderators unless they have a certain number of posts.

    PM Scam?

I've had at least 7 of those e-mailed to me. I've also had 1 person IM me for a few days, and then all of a sudden ask for money to fly her sick mom to Africa for treatment of some disease. So I blocked that person. :D If a person is sending you junk PM's here, you should forward...

    I am new here

:welcome: to AllDeaf! I am hearing too, and I'm fluent in ASL--feel free to PM or IM me if you want to talk to me!

    A question about a website...

Same here---I learned from my ex-girlfriend and signing dictionaries. My Deaf friends also helped me get things right too.

Could someone please help me out?

Thanks for starting this thread--I've been wondering about this myself since I'm also hearing. I would like to be able to sign to my long-distance deaf friends than type to them all the time.

    Pros and cons of Oralism??

Well, then explain why at least 3 HEARING members of this board (xalem, jillio, and I) have never seen any of the acts you describe like they're anti-Hearing. Surely we would have seen it, esp. since it's targeted at hearing people.

    Pros and cons of Oralism??

That is a good way of putting it, but I would make it more like this: Sign and Deaf culture is not nessarily about lack of hearing.....it's about being more visual than most hearing people.

    Pros and cons of Oralism??

OK, I am done restraining this ranty post! :pissed: I am trying to figure out what hierarchy loml is talking about. I know deaf extremists exist, but the wrong people are being accused of being that way. The "hearing impaired" snobs say "Oh, they don't accept me because I have the benefit...
