probably i wud get new laptop with that vista next yr.

my friend has vista beta and it looks very nice but it is very picky on what components the pc has. that made him to buy some new updated stuffs like video card for that picky vista.
An operating system should not be that demanding. It is possible for an operating system to take advantage of new hardware without demanding it. That's why Linux is gaining popularity.

That Window XP ok. :)
I hate Windows, even XP. I never used Win XP on any of my computers, and I don't regret that decision. :D

It's all about plug and play and hardware enumeration. If the drivers are available everything will work. Micorosoft, Sun, and the various flavors of Linux and even the MAC share the same problems when it comes to new hardware. The OEM's have to make the drivers available before the plug and play will work properly.

No, i wouldn't buy window vista CD and put it on my laptop, i'll wait until my laptop dies, then buy an new laptop or computer with window vista operation system on it, but if i didn't like it... will put linux on it instead.

Probably not right away! Im not too hype about this at all. Reason? XP is more than what I needed, why want more? Only that it would gobble enoromous memory space, RME!

Go back Windows 3.11 then.

Well. There is very few games and software for Linux. That's why Linux is not really popular. Just popular for geek. BTW I showed Knoppix 5.0 to my gf and she fall in love with that already. I can’t figure it out how to use wireless thru laptop on Knoppix. I know how to use network for wired. Any idea where can I find?

I know Neo.. you are too lazy to look for the drivers. lol..... Ok, I'll help ya... what kind of wireless nic do you have and don't tell me you are too lazy to check.. That is the minimal information I need to be able to help ya... Heres some links to check first... if they don't work, pm me with your hardware specs and I'll see what I can dig up. From what I have read so far, it sounds like you need a wireless NIC that is supported by Linux (including Knoppix Linux drivers) along with the NDIS wrapper.

I am not really lazy to check. I was not SURE what exactly I have to do it. I am still noob for Linux but I have to learn. Thanks for link. I will check it out later.

Oh really, I wonder what made you think about Linux instead ? Why ?

Sure it would be free, but there is strings attached.... It is full of bugs and there won't be much of technical support UNLESS you provide detailed trouble/issues. And they are "Time sensitive". There is a catch, if it breaks or damage your PC, then your pretty MUCH on your own!
Ok thanks ! Then Forget it I do NOT want to
invite bugs and cockroaches into my computer
because it's still way too early anyway.

No. I am waiting for new Mac OS X Leopard. The preview will tell us next week I am thrilling. They said Window Vista is weakness that compares to powerful operating system Mac OS X on the planet.

Why dont you all guys should think about? Window Vista will not release another few years.

Linux is also very powerful and my distro releases a new version every 6 months--well, they were 2 months late with the current release, but they're making up for it by making the next release 4 months after the current release. :)

Windows is the only operating system I don't like, and of course it has to be the one on the majority of computers... :ugh:

Two days ago i had meeting with computer technicians in my area...i questioned about windows Vista.... that one has bugs.... they said they dont trust this window until one or two years later.....
