Are you plan to buy Window Vista?

I think that Windows vista is the next generation ExoKernel based OS. For that it would be interesting to check it out but for me, I tend to shy away from the new stuff until it has a chance to stabalize in the market. That makes for a more reliable system in my opinion.

Yeah.... i talked to some computer technicians and they also said there are bugs in Vista... for all of us to wait about couple years...

Here is great info as you mentioned on the efforts to get Lunux microkernel based. http://cbbrowne.com/info/microkernel.html ExoKernels are the next generation.

My personal choice would be a microkernel OS. This is supported by the below excerpt from the The Tanenbaum-Torvalds Debate in 1992 Here is the link it came from. http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/opensources/book/appa.html The comment made about Intel CPU's no longer holds true. Remeber this was from 14 years ago. CPU's have evolved since then.
Andrew Tannenbaum, I presume? :giggle:

OK, joking aside, Linux wouldn't be where it is today if it was designed as a microkernel. In 1984, Richard Stallman wanted to start a free operating system and call it GNU. By 1991, they had everything ready except the kernel because they decided to use a microkernel, and at the time, it was hard to get that working quickly enough. By a fluke, Linus Torvalds was developing a kernel and calling it Linux. Choosing a monolithic kernel helped him develop it faster, and combining his efforts with the GNU project is why we have the GNU/Linux (most often called just Linux) OS today... :D

DId I talk too much? Didn't you bother to read Micro$oft Disclaimer notice on their own website about downloading beta software??? They already said they aren't responsible if anything goes wrong with your PC with Beta softwares? They already mentioned that if your not experience with Beta, and it is NOT recommended for inexperienced users! It wasn't my word, it was MICRO$OFT's OWN statement!
They don't even take responsibility for Windows releases either.

Well, if they did, they'd have their butts hauled to court far more often than they already do.

Yeah GNU but you know it's the same thing on any agreement (if you actually read those). Not just MS. Any distro of OS or even applications distributions all have the same thing. Once you click next during the installation, they have been relieved of liability.

Don't worry, MS will take care of it. :) Don't worry about anything ok. :)

Alot of argue on between Linux and Windows... I'm proud to get Mac... ;)

I saw in College have DOS and Linux too. They required it. I saw in class different kind of window.

I wouldn't buy Windows Vista right away. Expect at least bugs to show up like XP first experienced. Wait 1 to 2 years to pulse how Vista works out is the smart thing to do. That is what I did with XP before.

Beside that I don't even need to upgrade since my Windows XP Pro works great and still hum-hum-hum since 3 years so why bother to upgrade. I'm happy with it.

Usually it takes at least experienced ones or experts to keep window xp sharp and running. It depends on your hardware type, quality of your softwares to work with, and especially using your computer knowledge to make it all work right.

Defragmentizing, cleaning, virus scanning, spyware scanning at least frequently is another thing a must. Those are especially the big reason many users don't even bother to do which in many cases why their pcs fail or crash or experience problems.

Not matter which OS you use or that stands out, really in general speaking.

Well, Window Vista was good and there a new virus scan and many different will help them not get worry about, will not catch virus them. :D Sound good new. :D

Well, if we will get a job for computer thing. I have to create the hardware drive and will require to set up window vista to set up new computer desktop.

So, if you want order a new computer desktop. They will set up a new hardware to get new window vista. :D

I totally agree. Some folks like to get the new stuff as soon as it hits the market but my experience has told me to back off and wait a bit. Let them work the kinks out first. And I also agree with you that if it aint broke, don't fix it. My XP Pro is working just fine for what my needs are right now. I will perhaps investigate Vista as the OS for my streaming audio recording system but I will wait for at least the first service pack.

actually there are more than 5 type of Vista version. I believe up to 9? correct me with correct total nbr please.

to answer the question in first post...

No, I will not buy one because I own several macs running System 7.5.5, Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X 10.4.7 and looking forward to Leopard: Apple - Apple - Mac OS X - Leopard Sneak Peek in early 07.

Reason for sticking with Mac is NO VIRUS and all those craps that are infecting Windows everyday.

My friend told me that he received a PC that was infected with thousands virus, spyware, malware, adware and etc after few days of purchase. He was tasked to wipe them out and restore it to factory default and return it to the owner. Owner was a newbie so that tells me a PC out of box is not fully secure. while a Mac with Mac OS X Tiger is secure out of box to begin with.

Have a great year maintaining your Anti-virus software, it is highly necessary.

I do not own a Anti-Virus on any of my macs.
and never had a virus since '92!

Of course I admit I do have 2 hard drive failures due to ages. and I have replaced 2 other drive before it went out due to increase in noises in the drive.

If you hear the drive making noise that means it is telling you it is nearing the end of life as in "worn out" then it is time to transfer stuffs from dying drive.

Cheers!
