That statement is a load of :bsflag: American Sign Language is a language. So is written English, and there are lots of people who can work with written English who have never heard it nor know how to pronounce it, yet they still know English.

Good job, Jillio! Yeah, I would totally agree with you on that. Yes, it is great if a deaf person can learn to speak orally. The thing that often gets left out is the fact that kids, deaf or hearing, can grow up bilingually. I wish the either/or attitude would get dropped because the "use both"...
