    Now, if they could come up with a speech to text conversion one could use in a large setting (i.e. auditorium) or room whereas one would not have a good view of the speaker? And would also not involve a 3rd party? Like at a seminar or lecture, etc.

    Yes, even if you don't go for programming, you usually make two appointments to have the molds made. One for to make an ear mold impression. And the other to pick them up when they're ready in about a week or two.

    Some of the profoundly or severely deaf still make a good use of their hearing aids. Even if their hearing isn't perfect with it, they still feel it's more beneficial to wear them than not to. It depends on the individual.

    Yes, 5 to 7 years is just about the timeframe on how long the user usually wears the same hearing aid. Not to also mention that a better one would sometime also come along during that time period.
