    What did you learn today?

I learned at least one person would miss me if I were gone. Really nice to know, maybe even something I needed to know. If you're reading this, thank you!

    Middle-aged? Put down the meat

I agree that alot of the health information out there is contradictory and frustrating. The contrast you drew between TCS and you, though, I think that cause and effect (you didn't say it, but I've heard people suggest it) can actually go the other way. I think some people are more prone to...

I need help writing an ASL story?Anyone know ASL PLEASE HELP?

I'm very curious about the person you envision reading this request. Who do you think they are? What are they like? What is their life like? Why will they want to help you with their homework? What do they get out of it, or why do they care? Really, about them. Not about you, like "well I...

    Students Looking for ASL buddies

Set up a google hangout and you can invite more than one person. You can chat with more than one person on some of the other programs you mentioned too, although not on Skype's free version.

    Subway's New "Flatizzas"

Goodonya was saying "take the slow way down" meaning to walk/climb down, basically go with intention, as opposed to falling (fast way) down, presumably to one's death on the pavement below. (I love that line:) )

Noah Buchholz's strange encounter with a mute person

It's a weird thing, classifying people as disabled and the stigma around it. In a way I feel like almost everyone's disabled in one way or another. Like, how many people are able to get to work entirely on their own? Most people I know use a car (or a bus, etc) to assist them because they...

    Hello!!!! Just need to vent!!!

You don't have to talk about it if you don't want to. You can say "Something happened to my facebook account - I don't know why, but a bunch of my friends got deleted and photos too. I'm still going back and fixing everything." Then if she asks again later, just say you're still fighting with...

Noah Buchholz's strange encounter with a mute person

My Strange Encounter with a Mute Person - YouTube For non-ASL users: (This is just the gist of his message. I watched it, then started typing - I didn't try to describe every detail of how he said things.) Noah Buchholz is on a train and a woman sitting next to him writes him a note. (He's...

Pipes in Chicago are frozen, and service waiting time is excessive

The customers still pay for water, but the amount they pay just isn't related to their usage if they don't have a meter. Based on the article I linked to, people without meters are typically paying much more than they would with a meter: the formulas they use to determine the water/sewage bills...

Pipes in Chicago are frozen, and service waiting time is excessive

It supports what you're been saying though. Lots of people don't have water meters, even though they pay for water (either directly to the company, or through their rent, etc.) It just means that they're paying some amount determined by the company that isn't related to their actual usage.

Pipes in Chicago are frozen, and service waiting time is excessive

Chicago's-water-billing-mess-leaves-many-soaked - Chicago Sun-Times excerpt: In Chicago, 71 percent of single-family homes, two-flats and other residential properties aren't charged for water on the basis of how much they actually use. Instead, the city calculates their water bills using a...

    A Question of Terminology

I'm just someone who's here because she's into ASL (well, initially that was my reason for coming here, ha!) so don't take this as anything authoritative. I think the association of the word mute with rudeness is that people sometimes use it when talking about deaf people. And generally, deaf...
