What did you learn today? Part II

I like the Traveler version. Is it strong enough to wake anyone? Kristina, Bed shaker? Isn't a vibrating clock under the pillow enough or you meant that it's strong enough to literally shakes the bed? I want that!

What did you learn today? Part II

Alarm clock that goes under the pillow to wake you up. Why couldn't I think of that?

Overcoming extreme shyness as a result of being Deaf?

Holy shit. We're not shy. It's just we grew up, barely communicating with strain to the majority of the hearing. Hard life.

What are you thinking about? Part IV

I met someone using ASL for the first time. She went deaf shortly after birth, so she talked great enough for me to understand. I was blown away on how her interpreter signs and talks at the same time, fast.

    "What?" or "Pardon me?"

Sorry I really thought that ASL has a sign for "that". @Reba, Yeah that would work. Add something to sign along with "Repeat" sign, but not a simple "Repeat please". I can't help it, but think of a troll (while grinning) when someone does sign that or say it. "To each his own" is on me. :(

    "What?" or "Pardon me?"

Oh and no I don't sign (yet). Is there not a way to sign "repeat that (part) please"? If you had to fingerspell it, then I guess "repeat please" is more suitable.

What are you thinking about? Part IV

You gonna go to Alabama just like that? How much is the round trip? What do people do when they decide to go out of state for several reasons? Make a list? Of what? I'm curious because I would like to go out of state "just because" or " to see someone". What else are you gonna do? Gotta make...

What are you thinking about? Part IV

Anyone remembers their first days at elementary school? I remember in 1st grade or so when I went to a school in Frenso. Oh my gosh! I remember when being asked by a teacher I barely knew that if I know how to add/subtract things. This teacher knew I was deaf so she tapped on my shoulder and...

    "What?" or "Pardon me?"

Oh cmon... you know. If you plain stare at someone talking to you and after a few seconds, you sign/say "Repeat please", wouldn't they get frustrated or confused on how to response nicely to "Repeat please"? "AGAIN!" "This one push-up?" "NO. ALL 50 PUSH-UPS... AGAIN! (He mess up one...

Great website. Just began checking out profiles of D/HH's biographies and it's definitely awesome.

    "What?" or "Pardon me?"

There's a word that comes to mind about "Repeat, please" being more broad than "Repeat that please". "Repeat that please" is more straight-on and more friendly because "Repeat please" will have people likely to think they're offended or think they have to repeat the whole thing or ask you "what...

Stop yelling at me...i cant hear you anyways!

Yes you don't always hide your identity. One would go on with precaution and make sure he can make it through a such situation like someone trying to yell at him because he won't turn around. Make sure you have the words to make that person to understand you and not mistake you for something...

Overcoming extreme shyness as a result of being Deaf?

Dang, but it's not your fault, right? So tell them straight up your situation and if they don't accept (you), then move on. It's likely they won't even sit down with you and have you explain to them your situation.

why do hearing people think they better than us?

You know the right words. :)
  17. Mudkipz

    "What?" or "Pardon me?"

Much better than saying "what?" or "Sorry?". More likely to have that person to repeat "that", but not the whole thing again. Thanks for the tip.

    Annoying ignorant hearing people stories

I so know what you mean and it really boils me up too when someone talks about me as if I couldn't understand. I can see your face and your eyes looking at me, so excuse me!
